Default Finally, the stereo preamp I've been hoping for!!

Parasound will soon be shipping its replacement for the P3 stereo preamp, the P5.

This one is feature packed, complete with digital inputs/Burr-Brown dacs, HT bypass inputs, sub out w/bass management, balanced in/outs, etc...

This looks like the perfect preamp for me, and I'm sure it will suit the needs of many others as well.

It will be priced very reasonably (IMHO) @ $950. I think Parasound will have a winner on their hands with this one, and I predict they will sell a bunch of them...

    Link to the product page:

I think it looks sexy as hell to boot!!

    I want that!

Past my budget, but I'm tired of incremental steps and not being able to do the HT bypass as well as lack of remote control for sources and volumne. Time to start saving.

    Rick-

How do you think the phono section will compare to dedicated external in the under $500 range. If it would compare better than say a Cambridge Audio 651 phono pre then that would just be icing and less cables to deal with.

Yep, I want one bad too!! It has everything I would ever need or want in a preamp (and more).

As long as it sounds good (I'm sure it will), it'll be perfect for many of us.

    Indeed, time to start saving...

I am not sure, and I'm wondering the same thing. I look forward to reading some reviews as soon as they get in the hands of their owners.

I hesitate because it seems like a lot in one chassis for under $1k, but for Parasound to put their Halo name on it, I can't see how it could sound bad.

Here is a quote from the Emotiva forum:

"This is IMO what DACS need to have. A sub out, analog inputs and a dedicated pre-amplifier along with it. it's going to sell.
However, it's specs don't quite measure up to Emotiiva's XDA DAC and USP-1 offerings. But specs doesn't mean it sounds worse IMO. Looking forward to it."

This looks great and the price seems fair.
I've been eyeing the mPre from W4S to replace the TLP-1 and DacMagic I currently have. Now I have choices!!

There is a recording out, maybe a buffer can be placed in a recording loop?
