Default ARS Harmonia - Anyone Heard of Them?

Just saw a pair of these at a dinner party. They looked cool, but they weren't hooked up so I have no idea what they sound like.

Single driver and a bass reflex port. $1500/pair, same as a pair of LSiM-703's

Hmmm. Ported 3.5" full range driver... They probably do sound good, but you won't get much bass even with the port, and I'd be interested to see how they keep the drivers from over-excursion. Why not build your own pair of Fostex based speakers; Madisound will even sell you correct spec knockdown cabinets?

^^This^^ 3.5" full range driver, 4 ohm impedance and 86 db sensitivity. Not only would they be limited in bass, they're hard to drive to boot! No thanks! If I were looking at something like that, I would look at the ZU Omens which can also be had for $1500.00. You can pick up the Dirty Weekend version of the Omens from ZU with full warranty and everything for $1000. The ZUs will have much better bass response and are much easier to drive. They look cool to boot. I own a pair of the Omens and 703s and I like both very, very much! The ZUs are quicker and have very fast transient response not unlike a pair of electrostatics or panel speakers. The 703s are very smooth and sound great with everything. I would look at both of these (and many others) before the ARSs. Caveat I haven't heard them, but this is one instance where the specs do tell you a lot.

Ya. I was just curious what people thought as they're made right here in town. I'm not in the market for speakers.

Considering the $ per sq. inch, these are a helluva lot more expensive than the 705's I got for $1500 through the friends & family sale.

I find it laughable they call it full range. Maybe Polk should start calling their blackstones full range as well?

I bet they don't sound bad. Problem is, there is a lot of competition in that price range that will outperform them.

That kit is really cool. I would be interested in building one of those.

^ Love my Zu Omen's, but they got rid of the Dirty Weekend ones when they came out with the Mark 1b Omen.
