    Default Hafler amp...comments ?

Like the title says, someone I actually KNOW is selling their Hafler 500 power amp, says I can have it for $200, apparantly it's in perfect condition and has never given him any issues...could be a nice power bump for the A7s...opinions requested from those who know.

I run a stock DH-500 with some SDA 2Bs and a stock DH-200 with some RTA-12Bs. Very good amps that can be upgraded if you want to spend the coin. Mine sound great to me stock.

This Google search shows lots of forum posts

    Hafler 500 site:polkaudio.com

"Power Rating: Less than 0.025% total harmonic distortion at any power level up to 255 watts continuous average power per channel into 8 ohms at any frequency between 20 Hz and 20 kHz with both channels driven. Power Consumption: 240 VA quiescent; 1200 VA @ rated power into 8 ohms, 2 channels."

    I've used a QSC-GX7 & Yamaha P7000s with my RTiA9s & have been pleased with what ~ 700 wrms provides.

A friend gave me one for free. It was not working at the time. I put $100 in and its working great. His dad bought it new in the 80's. I enjoy the amp a lot. I plan on using it when I get a decent preamp home theatre system started. They run my SDA's fine.

Hey nbrowser if you never picked up that Amp I would love to have it. PM me and maybe we can work something out.

I'm in Alberta but we have a branch office in the lower mainland so shipping wouldn't cost me anything.

    Cheers

A nice amp with lots of power for the price, but it will need a recap for best performance due to the age, and is not an authority on clarity.
