Default Really? They had to release new ones? Damn

    Whats up everyone?
So I was reading around the AVS forum and so happen to trip my way into the Mythos speaker thread. They where talking about Sub outs and why not to use the center as LFE etc etc etc. Then some dude mentioned the Mythos ST-L brand new model.
I like the flash jumped to Definitive's website and saw them there. Now mind you I usually know about these things well in advance. I asked many times IF a new Mythos speaker line was gonna come out anytime soon and the answers I got from the Rep was " It's been kicked around but nothing right now". So I figured why mess with perfection and assumed they felt the same way.

I've been extremely happy with my Mythos system but they made some improvements, I'm so IN!!! So now I gotta make some calls and get a pair here to VS the original ST's sitting in my family room.

They look very cool and the new bottom is very nice. I like the old bottom but the new one looks cooler. The new drivers are also neat looking. Reworked subs and Tweeter as well. I'm so beat

I like Definitive but their new offerings are kind of a mixed bag to me. The new bookshelf speakers look like absolute crap in person. That cheap black vinyl on the sides is just crap, pure crap.

With that said, they are a solid product.

Can't wait for you to get your first crossover mod for them and try to fit all that **** in those cabs.

Have you ever heard the ST's? At full retail coming in at $4000.00 for the older models which I personally own I'd say they are worth every penny. They are a remarkable speaker which is one of the very best double duty speakers I could find.
The new models coming in at $5000.00 are going to have to really sound much more refined for me to want them. But if they are I'm probably going to get them as long a Mythos 10 center or a new model center channel comes out as well as new matching surrounds or a Mythos 10L model. I rock a Mythos 10 center and surrounds now and love the synergy.

They are a pretty solid performing bookshelf speaker. I like the whole line. The New BP series is the best sounding BP's ever IMO. They are very clear, dynamic , dig very low and hit hard. I really like them.
These new Mythos STL's look damn nice, I can't wait to hear them. I really want them hear for a full side by side. I'm sure I can make that happen. I gotta call in some favors to the Rep.

Dan, have you ever heard Usher? I only ask because you pull double duty like I do and they excel at it. I've found speakers I'd rather heave for music, but they don't have near the impact of the Usher and would be a drag in HT.

I have had a guy do the ST mod, DIY, and he was able to fit a complete mod in the upper portion of the cabinet with some strategic layout... :)

I've always liked the Mythos system but never felt it was all there was in that price range! There is a lot to choose from if you're going to spend 4-5 grand on two speakers and more on the supporting HT C/LS/RS/LB/RB.

I'd have to 'hear' this new series to see whether what we have here is hype, or a true upgrade like we had with the new Polk LSiMs? Because as said, the new DT bookshelves seem to have been cheaped out!

I haven't heard the STs, but I DID listen to the Mythos that predated them back in the day I was shopping for speakers. And the Mythos were high on the list - I liked them. No doubt I would LOVE the STs. And I would LOVE the NEW STs.

BUT - $2,500 each - that's steep...too steep for me. And yes, I'd pay more than a grand per speaker. In fact I'm embarrassed to say that I over-payed for my LSi speakers...but I got to draw the line somewhere and $2,500 is beyond my line. That said, I know there are others out there with far more disposable cash than me, so DefTech may be right on in their price point on these new speakers.

Do you do a ST mod? I know I asked you in the past but I don't remember the outcome. There isn't a lot of room inside the cabinets where the Crossovers live. I wonder what was done?

I owned the full LSI line and really enjoyed my time with them. I would love to give the new LSIM a full theater demo as the LSIM703 spent some time here and I was pretty impressed. I would absolutely own them IF they pulled double duty as good as the Mythos line does. But I couldn't tell just by having a pair of bookshelf speakers here so I just tested them with music. They are light years better then the older LSi's.
We all have our budgets man and value is only in the eyes of the one holding the Wallet. I have no issues with the Mythos ST price point or the new 5k price point of the new models but at 5k, they really got to be something magical. You now in the realm of much higher end speakers but really that only matters IF those higher end speakers can perform double duty well. Many speakers IMO don't do so well at one or the other. It's special when a speaker can do both and excel. The Mythos series is one of those magical speaker lines that performs very well. I'm super happy with them and all the customer who also own them that I Installed. It's pretty remarkable how many smiles and excitement they bring to peoples homes. When I started Installing Mythos or even just Def Tech all together, I witnessed some magical moments in my career. So many extremely happy people. Not just to own a home theater system and be able to have surround sound but to truly have something special and inviting.
After just a few Installs I really started to fall for the Mythos ST. I was pretty shocked on some of the Jobs I did with them and how incredibly dynamic they are with good clean power. Pretty amazing.
