Max,
I don't have any experience with the Infinity Perfect 10.1's so it would not be fair to compare the two. I will say that the cones used in our MOMO MM100's and MM120's are one of the strongest in the industry. They are not prone to changing their stiffness depending on temperature. During a hot summer's day, some cones can flex very easily due to high temperatures and this tends to "muddy" up the bass response as well as slow down transient response time. If you have the time compare the stiffness on both woofers and you will see what I am talking about.
Since your goal is sound quality, build a 2 chamber .66 cubic feet sealed enclosure for these woofers. Use 3/4" MDF for the box building material and seal all interior seams with a silicone caulking. Allow 40 hours of playing music at a reasonable level to let the woofer's suspension "break in". They can sound a little "restrained" directly out of the box but once "broken in" for 40 hours they
will reach their maximum performance capability. Set the low pass crossover to 80 Hertz. If the amplifier uses a 12 or 24 dB per octave crossover, you may have to invert the "phase" or polarity on the subs to get the best bass performance.
PPI amplifiers will work just fine with these subs. Look for a power rating of 500 to 800 Watts to drive them. If you want to bridge the amplifier make sure that it is capable of driving a 2 Ohm mono load before buying it. A lot of amplifiers will not drive a 2 Ohm mono load but they will drive a standard 4 Ohm load when bridged. Sonically the amplifier will sound its best driving a 4 Ohm load plus the damping factor will remain high and this will have better control of the cone movement once the signal has stopped. You can think of "damping factor" as sort of being electronic braking for the woofer cone. In a 2 Ohm load this is cut in half. Granted power is increased but the sound quality usually suffers. If you have any questions, feel free to give us a call at 800-377-7655 between the hours of 9 AM to 6 PM Eastern time and we will be glad to help.
Thanks,
Kim
