    Default Spike suggestions

I can't seem to dig up the thread I found awhile ago on spike suggestions

In looking for a good set of spikes and wonder what kind/brand members use. I have hardwood floors so I'd have to use the pucks as well

Is it better to use 3 spikes per cabinet or 4? I've read 3 would increase the pressure per point of contact. If using 3 does this make the cabinet unstable?

    Thanks

I have two sets. I'm looking for the 2B's right now. The SRS's lost out to the wife factor. Refinishing the basement is in the future for them.

Plus I want to mod the 2b's to get my feet wet then get after the big ones.

** forgot to mention they are the walnut not black studio version. There are sliders but not sure threaded hurricane nuts. Gonna have a look see**

Ah well, I'm not too terribly educated on the SDA line but you definitely want 4 spikes per cabinet. I'm sure the SDA gurus will chime in as to what spikes will work best for those speakers.

    Adona multi-element spikes, http://www.adonacorporation.com/tweaks.html

They will increase the overall height of your 2B's bringing the tweeter closer to ear level.

    Agreed, 4 spikes per cabinet

There are sliders but not sure threaded hurricane nuts.
The threaded inserts are already there, 1/4-20 thread

I don't remember where (possibly Meniscus Audio) I got mine for my 2Bs, but IIRC they were about $35 for the set of 8. They look great and work nicely, IMHO, as far as tightening up the bass and bringing the tweeters up more in line with my ears when I'm seated in my listening area. I know I got the floor discs at Meniscus for about $0.25 apiece.

You can see how mine look in this thread (post #9): http://www.polkaudio.com/forums/show...-floor-spikes& I'd highly recommend strengthening up the pedestal if you're planning to spike any cab's that have the fiberboard pedestals. I made new ones out of solid oak that I painted to match the speakers. Also, make sure to get the ones that are height adjustable to make sure you can level your speakers once the spikes are mounted. Lastly, if you might someday have the speakers on a carpeted floor, make sure you get ones that are adequately sharp so they can penetrate the carpet to get a firm hold on the flooring underneath.

Yup. They have a lot of good options, and that's where I got mine.

I used dayton audio brass spikes on my 2Bs. I removed the risers and went straight into the cabs. More stable that way

I've checked out all the suggestions.

Getting a longer spike make sense to bring the tweeter up to ear level.

Is a two piece spike really needed to help level the speaker?

Last question, does the diameter or taper of the spike matter? I'm just thinking its ascetics, like if I dig stilettos on a woman?
