    Default Mid range cones dead in my RTiA9

    Hi all,

    The two mid range cones are dead in one of my RTiA9 towers, and it looks like one of the low range cones is not in the best shape, it seems not to output as much power as the other in the other perfectly functional tower.

    I power my RTiA9's with Emotiva 500 W rated XPA-1 mono amps......I wonder if I am pushing too much power into the towers ?

    I bought them exactly 3 years ago, and I have registered them on Polk's web site. Do I still have any warranty on these ?

    Thanks,

    Hello,
    The speakers have a five year warranty, you should be fine. Contact the Canadian manager, Walter Moser, at 1-877-660-6601 or via email: wmoser@polkaudio.com for help.
    Regards, Ken

    Aside from calling Polk in Canada, your problem isn't the amps.....it's the volume dial my friend. Everything has limitations, I believe you found yours.

    Good point, that's what I was thinking of;

    Let me start saying that I have perfect hearing (confirmed by annual exams), I wonder.......if the amp power is not higher than the speaker rating, shouldn't the speaker be out of danger in any situation ?

    I mean, if I had a 2000 W amp matched with a 2000 W speaker, shouldn't I damage my ears well before damaging the speaker, that actually in a situation like this would never be at risk ?
