    Default Power Conditioner Question

Is a power conditioner also a surge protector? Is this something I should purchase or is a surge protector enough? Any recommendations?

I suggest you check into Panamax or Furman , they make something for just about everyone.
Most if not all power conditioner are Surge Protectors as well. Yes you need both. I believe in Voltage stabilization on top of Conditioning and surge.

Thanks, I'll check the Panamas/Furman. Voltage regulation I will have to read up on. I have an electrician friend I'll chat with about that. Thanks as well Txcostal1. I'll check out that link at lunch.

I've been having some funky issues with the power company Comed. A transformer in the area must be bad - I have lights flickering again after two fixes by the power company. This is after I spend a lot of money changing out my breaker box thinking the problem was internal. I don't want to harm any equipment I'm going to purchase. Thanks again.

Is a Voltage Stabilizer and Voltage Regulator the same thing? They both seem to bring up or down voltage to maintain 120 volts. Will this do the job? http://www.ebay.com/itm/Tripp-Lite-L...item4d15e63bc1

That Tripplite 1200 looks fine for what you need. Note that its rated 10A. As long as you are not running a huge current-hungry amp, the 10A rating should be fine.

Thanks Glen, that isn't a lot is it? I was thinking of runing all the home theater gear through it including a powered sub woofer.

You can never have too much power conditioning, just like you can never have too much amp power, speakers too big, etc. ;-)

That's too bad, though, that you'vs had to spend so much already, and probably more, to overcome upstream power line problems!

I purchased both the Panamax I think 5300 and the Tripplite. i'm surprised I'm rarely hitting 2amps with the Yamaha 2030 and Polk DSWpro 660 sub plus cable box and tv. The electric company also fixed my fluctuations but I'm very glad I have this double protection. Now I can concentrate on figuring out how to use all this equipment and enjoy the sounds.
