    Default Lehigh Valley, PA

    Hi all...

Are there any Polkies that also live in the Lehigh Valley? I'm at the point, because of some changes, where I am using a combined DAC/Phono hooked up to my Musical Fidelity M6I. I think it sounds good, and I'm not sure if a much better dac/phono would be a huge improvement. It would be awesome if someone was local we could meet up and do some listening and A/B comparison.

On a side note, it may be beneficial to have a sticky with everyone, and their locations (If they are willing to give) to see who is around you.

    Thanks,

    James

There are a few members to your south and southwest and quite a few in Jersey. And as you know, Jersey is more or less a drive through to NYC for most living in your part of Pa. In fact, most of the Easton, Bethlehem area had a HUGE housing boom in the early 21st century with all those Jersey boys moving to NEW construction at 1/3 to 1/4th the Jersey price at that time and much lower real estate taxes.

I'm no longer in that area but up in Maine but I do visit occasionally. Unfortunately I don't have much of an interest in DACs as I use the Jolida CDP below which is pretty darn "good" with some nice tubes in it. And I have not yet moved on to servers and all that stuff. I'm an old school dude.

I hope some of the Jersey boys will chime in. And if you're not in a great hurry, I'd definitely make it to John's (Jstas) Polk Fest this year, you're only a couple hours away, I believe?

OK, boys, jump in here with your $1000-2000 DACs!

Philly area here, I'm finally at a point where I'm getting my equipment out of storage and set up in the living room so I can determine how to start getting my music appreciation up to the next level.

Bethlehem - Fond memories of my YOUTH. Great small city to grow up in. Lived there in the 50's and 60's, before college. No poverty and little crime back then. Children ran free with both parents working. I visited on occasion until my brother passed. Loved the downtown area with ggas lights and cobbled stoned streets.

How is Bethlehem now, with casinos ?

What do people do for a living now that the Steel is gone. Gaming? Hi-tech? Tourism?

well - the first Polk Audio Monitor owner I ever knew lives in Bethlehem... my guess is that he's not here, else he'd have chimed up.

In terms of my 'hobby'... it's all his fault! ;-)
    all the best,

I only lived in Bethlehem for about a year - am in Nazareth - but within 15 minutes. I'm not sure if there is one or two industries that dominate now - It's typical "Little bit of everything". The Sands Casino is very nice. I've been a few times :)

I guess not many locals in the Lehigh Valley. Darn :)

..My fondest memories of youth in Bethlehem were Phillie Steak Sandwiches. There was a place in my neighborhood that would slice the steak when ordered. A 6" Steak sandwich was $.45 and you had to take out 1/3rd of the meat to get it in your mouth. Also it was on the perfect Italian bun. Still dream of them . They also had the perfect sauce, with peppers. The place might still be around...I am sure under new management. The Lantern.

Have been to Phillie and what they consider the best - no comparison. Fresh is best !!! The roll is also a must. Got a meat slicer here In DC to make my own. Best buns are from Litteri 's.

No Phillie subs, but awesome Italian subs, food and wine.
