    Default Best speaker cables?

Anyone have any input on the best speaker cables?

I am looking for pre-terminated ones.

    At a reasonable price...

    Thanks!

I was told not to buy cables from Ebay - a lot of fake/counterfeits...

Get them from cablebuyer. They will terminate them any way you want in any length you want. I never had a problem. I think your thinking of really exspensive cables that are counterfeit.

    Anything a little "better"...?

$1 per foot seems a little "cheap"...

Exact same stuff I use, fine speaker cabling, not too pricey and gets the job done in spades, also great for bi-wire applications as well.

Interesting? The Canare has a great rep in the pro audio and home audio world. Its about the best start one you can get....from there the cost goes up and only ones ears can say if it is worth it or not.

check out audio art and for a little bit more straley reality cables. there are a lot of people who have stop searching for better cables after getting the straley's, I still have a pair of the speaker cables that have been here so long the directional arrows are starting to fade.

Ditto on the Canare cable. I just made a set of cables over the weekend, terminated with some nice heavy duty spades and neatened up with cable "pants" just like the big guys! Don't be influenced by the pseudo science padded with high prices.

Coat hanger? It'll work, but where do you draw the line? How far do you want to venture down the proverbial "rabbit hole"

As a little shaver, one of my first fun audio memories was to cut–out the back panel of a cereal box with the Jackson 5s latest hit ABC . . . If you'r not familiar, the cardboard box had a Single play song bonded to it, once the cereal box was empty, you could cut around the dotted lines so it could be played on the TT of your choice . . .

Guess what? The SQ was acceptable (then) but not what I would consider acceptable today . .

In short, it all matters, IF IF You can hear a diff, go for it, IF Not don't spend the $

    G

Guess what? To those virgin ears, it sounded good, so did a crude transistor ra-did-E-O. . . .

Good post Glenn, but also lends itself to something else.

If you never heard anything different, an old transistor radio and cardboard record would still be your choice of music playback. So unless you venture outside your comfort zone, you won't discover squat.

BTW, yeah....I too had those cereal box cardboard cutouts, sounded like ass to me. lol

Audiophile ? Where ? None here...just a nutjob with a passion for making his beer budget/champagne tastes rig improve without going into the poorhouse. Honestly, I couldn't compete with many here when it came to what the system is capable of but for a 2 channel system that morphed into a full on 5.1 HT system, it'll make a lot of people happy.

Sure, I've got an AVR heading it up, but I've got at least one killer source (Thanks for the rec Jesse, never head a CD sound this good nor my iPod) and a spiffy amp (still remember someone pushing me er well, demanding I get it lol) for two channel listening that simply blows ANYTHING I've ever owned away very very easily. Sound quality, impact, imaging, it's all off my personal charts. Now the incoming speaker cables...are to be an upgrade and I'm looking forward to seeing what a nicely done up set of cables can do with those network boxes, never had something like this before.

Anyways, I figure I've got my gear dialed in, now it's time to focus in on the way it's all hooked up. If that makes me an "audiophile" so be it. It's about freakin time I had a system I can enjoy for hours on end without wanting to shut it off, which I have now. Music or movies it just grabs hold of you and doesn't let go til the sound stops. I'm happy, but in the back of my mind...I know I can eke out more performance from the pieces in play.

That's what makes you an audiophile. It's the ones suggesting coat hangers or yapping on about pseudo science and placebo effects that are the audiophools.

I make my own cables but i have wondered how they would compare to premade cables. I have engineered cables for a few companies in the past but all of them where for power or small signal stuff

Well if that's the case, who here hands out the "audiophile membership" cards? LOL Seriously though, I'm now at a place in my journey to take the next step. Small steps as I can afford to the system but so far, whatever I've done to it has been a good move.
