OK my initial thoughts were that they sounded like Kansas and the lead singer like Geedy Lee.
But as I listen it's more hard rock and he sounds less and less like Lee. A lot of times I buy $1 LP's
only to be disappointed. This is not one of those times.

Mainhorse at $3 and Medusa at $1 are both winners in Pumpkinland

@11Steve. I'm liking the new album. I'm stoked to see NIN up at the Staples Center in LA in November! I think it is going to be a good tour!

agreed! overall it's a strong release, though a tad quirky. I guess that goes without saying for a NIN album.... and I have tickets for this Saturday's show in St Paul, MN. This week will NOT go fast enough...

New Cactus Band ~ Son Of Cactus

The New Cactus Band, led by Duane Hitchings, released one album (Son Of Cactus) and featured none of the original Cactus members. Mike Pinera, formerly of Blues Image and Iron Butterfly, came in on guitar, along with Roland Robinson on bass and Jerry Norris on drums. The band then toured live in the Midwest and on the East Coast in mid 1973 with Captain Beyond drummer Bobby Caldwell and former Gregg Allman bass player Charlie Souza.

    Default Cactus

P-MAN...dont have that one but have a couple with Jim McCarty on lead...Hot an Sweaty is a fav. Saw Beyond when they opened for Alice Cooper in Nashville at the speedway in 72. Nobody ever heard of them but by the time they were halfway through Dancing Madly Backwards..they were pinning the audience to the seats....by the time they finished, nobody wanted to hear Cooper..who was no slouch group in those days....I'll never forget the crowd response to that show...went from indifference to total awe! That was one kick ass opener!

Pumpinman, you're blowing me away with some of your picks. I saw the original Cactus live one time in their heyday, and they were awesome. Most kids now never heard of them. Msabot1, was always looking for a chance to see C. Beyond in the early 70's but, alas, never materialized.

Lots of movie soundtracks as of late, with a heavy dose of Clint Mansell (Abandon, Stoker, and my personal favorite, The Fountain.)

One hell of a dynamite show!
