The remastered version, by far the Christmas present I've enjoyed the most. Well worth the money that somebody else spent.

wow... it's been at least 10 yrs since I listened to this on CD. I never owned this on vinyl... but I found a LP today that is in pretty decent condition. I remember liking it a lot way back when it came out in 1988.
Side 1 is pure magic. I like every song better than the one before. What a great voice, band and sound. I know Edie and band put out other albums after this one.. but I'm not familar with them.
THis is a keeper. :)
Fantasy Blues Series Sampler - America
1972, Fantasy Records - FP-4, 2-LP
My good friend, George Grand, graciously bestowed this unopened LP on me during a recent visit. I can't thank him enough. But, the best thing he did was save this treasure in the first place. Although unopened, it had a torturous existence--partially submerged in water! I was able to clean the vinyl to pristine condition and, I hope, stop the mold and mildew activity on the cover. (see pics below)
This is a promotional double album and never intended for resale. It samples 11 artist's double album releases on Fantasy in the early 70's. The albums were "painstakingly remastered" and it shows. These are the crème de la crème of the releases and are simply stunning. A quote from the internal liner notes sums it up perfectly and is as valid today as the day it was written, 36 years ago: "The music to be heard here was not created to exploit fads or fleeting musical trends; as a result, it is as refreshing and vital today as the day it was recorded."
You done good, George!

Mikey,
Thanks. I didn't really save it for that long. I only found it a week or two before you came up, but when I saw the artists, I knew she was yours.
Creedence recorded on Fantasy, and those albums always sounded pretty good to me. But the real reason I thought it would sound good was I had a Fantasy album "Pieces of Dreams" by Stanley Turrentine. Back in the 70's this album had a lot of sentimentality attached to it for moi. As I got systems that were better and better I really began to appreciate the recording.
I knew when I bought it it was going to a good home!
Gustav Holst - The Planets, converted from record and cleaned up to remove the pops! :D
Jerry Lee Lewis - Who's Gonna Play This Old Piano..(Think About It Darlin')

Gettin' down with The Killer this a.m. I don't think this one every made it to CD. Leans a bit more toward country than rock-a-billy. Good stuff!

Song 16, A.M. Mourning. Nice
Right after 25 or six to 4. Sounds wonderful. Different to me, but nice. Real nice.
In search of accurate reproduction of music. Real sound is my reference and while perfection may not be attainable? If I chase it, I might just catch excellence.

"Appreciation of audio is a completely subjective human experience. Measurements can provide a measure of insight, but are no substitute for human judgment. Why are we looking to reduce a subjective experience to objective criteria anyway? The subtleties of music and audio reproduction are for those who appreciate it. Differentiation by numbers is for those who do not".--Nelson Pass

Just got back from the local Goodwill store with 16 selections. The vinyl gods were good to me today. Just out of the clean and into the spin cycle is Maynard Ferguson - Echoes of an Era.
Up next, a near pristine (and my best condition Goodwill find to date) Linda Ronstadt with the Nelson Riddle Orchestra – What’s New . One more to go and I'll have the complete set of three with Nelson.
