today I saw a young girl (18-20) at the supermarket with one of those big purses about the size of the old paper grocery bags with a big pic of Blondie on the side of it. Pretty cool girl imo :)

Emerson, Lake & Palmer - Emerson, Lake & Palmer
1971 Atlantic SD 12190
I played my copy of this LP several months ago and realized it was just plain worn out...almost unlistenable. Thanks to the GG vinyl sale, I now have a near perfect copy.
As the first track of side one begins...the power of Carl Palmer's drumming and Keith Emerson's keyboard on "The Barbarian" engulfs you. The side ends with the frantic "Knife~Edge", with the 14 minute "Take A Pebble" wedged in between.
Side 2 - "Lucky Man" - nuff said! (although "The Three Fates" and "Tank" are worth mentioning as well)
No wonder I wore the grooves off of my original LP. GREAT STUFF!

Kansas - Leftoverture
1976 Kirshner PZ 34224 LP
A really nice album with "Carry On Wayward Son" as the "hit single". The entire album is good. The more I listen to my old stuff...the more I appreciate it and the more I wonder where the innovation in rock is today. I try to listen to the new rock...but I rarely go WOW when I hear any of it. I still think WOW when I listen to music like Leftoverture.

Most people don't really like innovation when it comes to music, they like to listen to the same sounding stuff over and over.
Heres some innovation, but you probably won't like it, raps over 12 bar blues...
tons of innovation out there, you just can't expect it to sound like the 70's

Harry Nilsson, Nilsson Schmilsson. An artist who definitely did it his way and left us too soon.
Spun this for the wife’s birthday. She loves Coconut.
Put de lime in de coconut, and drink 'em both up.
I love his rendition of Without You, and Jump Into The Fire always makes me push on the gas in the car or crank up the 2 channel rig to 110dB’s. (You might remember Jump Into The Fire was used for a scene in Goodfellas).
And then there is my favorite lyrics from Son Of Schmilsson
You're breaking my heart / You're tearing it apart / So f@ck you.:D And so much more.

The Gregg Allman Band - Playin' Up A Storm
1977 Capricorn Records CP 0181
WOW! If I've listened to this LP, it was years ago and I don't remember it. My bad! Gregg's first solo effort. This isn't your Allman Brothers lite. This is Gregg taking a totally different direction from the AB southern blues rock genre. Blues-Rock-Soul is the best I can describe it. Smoother and less edgy than the AB. A great recording with his backup band consisiting of the likes of Dr. John and Billy Payne. I really liked his later solo effort "I'm No Angel" that was recorded 9 years later. This one is BETTER! Highly recommended for any Allman Brothers or Gregg Allman fan!

If nothing else...George's vinyl sales puts me BACK in touch with some of the great music from my youth. This album is one of those. The minute I lowered the arm on the TT, it all came back as "Stranger In A Strange Land" started to play. A very nice LP. Thanks George!
