Chris Isaak - Heart Shaped World
Saw him on Austin City Limits last night and just had to break out the CD.
Forever Blue is up next with my favorite Isaak track... "Somebody's Crying".

Wishbone Ash is an all but forgotten, great band. One of the few to feature twin lead guitarists.Originally posted by BlueMDPicker

"Live Dates" is one of my few radio station winnings. Also won a pair of tickets to see them in an old downtown Cleveland movie theater, circa winter of '73-'74. Great show... Opening act was some new guy out of NJ named Spingsteen or something... wonder whatever became of him? :D
There's an excellent 2-disc WA compilation out... "Time Was/ The Wishbone Ash Collection".
Listening to some new arrivals today:
The James Gang - "Live in Concert"
It's pretty much the "... Rides Again" song line-up. After some strained opening vocals by my boy, Joe, this disc really warms up. Joe's guitar playing is very strong, maybe his zenith, and much "bluesier" than anything else I've heard from him. Some extended, improvised solos in about half the tracks make this one worth a buy... if you're into Joe.
Leon Russell - "... and the Shelter People"
Another one of the "lost tapes" (lost due to age) from my college days has now been replaced. Pretty much the quintessential Leon release. Memories of it were a little better than the reality, but the reality ain't bad so I am glad that I found and bought it.
More later,
Tour...

Last night was Derek And The Dominos - Layla - SACD (Thanks to my friend Jesse). EXCELLENT!
Tonight, I'm getting in the Christmas spirit...
Handel's Messiah performed by the Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra and The Stockholm Bach Choir - Anders Ohrwall - Conductor. A SACD by FIM (First Impressions Music). This is one of the finest recorded pieces of music I own. Start with one of the greatest works of music ever written, performed by truly world class musicians/vocalists and re-mastered extremely well as a SACD. It is a unique disc in many ways. Every time I hear the Hallelujah (Chorus) cold chills run down my spine.
Mannheim Steamroller - Christmas in the Aire
Home Alone [Original Soundtrack]
The Carpenters - Christmas Portrait

Bright Eyes: Lifted or The Story Is In The Soil, Keep Your Ear To The Ground
Took a few listenings for it to sink in, but since it has it is one of my favorites - Pretty powerful lyrics for someone his age. Helps if you put yourself in the right frame of mind before listening!![]()

Decided to go with a trio of county ladies tonight....Not everyones favorites here I know...but there is something about a southern girl's voice that can charm the pants off of a southern guy...like me....
Sugarland - Twice The Speed of Life - Jennifer Nettles is a relative newcommer from Atlanta that has a pure southern voice that I can listen to for hours.
Sara Evans - Restless
Leann Rimes - Greatest Hits
Great voices within their genre...and not too bad to look at either!
