An oldie (kinda) but a great one. Johnny Cash-"Unchained" this may be the best of the late career of JC excellent backing musicians and great sound.
Some of the most sincere/heart felt vocals from Cash to be sure.
This is late night, individual listening music at its finest. "Spiritual" is one track that stands out ,to me, as a "window" into the mind/heart of Cash at this point in his career. If ever a song sung by him could be called "sweet" then this is the track.

Listening through the Carver Amazings once again but minus the Carver C-9 and loving it!
Not using the C-9 again until I upgrade the RCA jacks. Not real happy with the stockers somewhat small diameter, at least for the ICs on my main 2-ch rig.

Reminds me of Dad's boxset "Paul Simon 1964-1993." I should get that out and give it a listen sometime.Originally Posted by ND13

Maxwell's Urban Hang Suite
Some knucklehead gave me this almost one-year ago so I feel obligated to at least play it every late-December. :p
It has an honest to goodness, Old-School, Motown flavor to it. Takes me right back to the early 70's and my days as a feature dancer on Soul Train... the good Soul Train with Don Cornelius hosting...

And while we are gettin' funky in the wee hours...
Maybe my favorite Little Feat release, Feats Don't Fail Me Now. For sure it holds my favorite Little Feat song, "Spanish Moon" although I like the live track on Waitin' for Columbus a bit better.

"Appreciation of audio is a completely subjective human experience. Measurements can provide a measure of insight, but are no substitute for human judgment. Why are we looking to reduce a subjective experience to objective criteria anyway? The subtleties of music and audio reproduction are for those who appreciate it. Differentiation by numbers is for those who do not".--Nelson Pass

Nick Drake - Bryter Layter
cats.vans.bag...
I just lined up a few CD's and listened to 'em on my Sony shelf system and curb-salvaged speakers. I've also listed the songs that I particulary wanted to listen to and/or stood out to me.
Dwight Yoakam - There Was A Way
The Distance Between You and Me
Since I Started Drinkin' Again
Turn It On, Turn It Up, Turn Me Loose
It Only Hurts When I Cry
I've relatively recently discovered Dwight Yoakam and have grown pretty fond of his style. I thought the chorus from It Only Hurts When I Cry was pretty cool:
"The only time I feel the pain
Is in the sunshine or the rain
And I don't feel no hurt at all
Unless you count when teardrops fall
I tell the truth 'cept when I lie
And it only hurts me when I cry"
Brad Paisley - Mud On the Tires
Mud On the Tires
That's Love
Whiskey Lullaby
The Best Thing That I Had Goin'
Eric Clapton - Pilgrim
My Father's Eyes
River of Tears
The Eagles - Hotel California
Hotel California
Alan Jackson - Drive
Bring On the Night
The Sounds
Designated Drinker
I've listened to this CD many times before, and I have almost always skipped over these three songs. But not long ago, for some reason, I listened to them, and they grabbed me. I thought (and still do) they're quite powerful, and beautiful to boot.
The tune from Bring On the Night is what catches my attention. The Sounds is just as beautiful, and it has some neat lyrics: "You can't hear it, but the noise is killing me." Then at the end, it changes to "I can hear it, and the silence is killing me." Designated Drinker is a great song, and on this CD it's a duet with George Strait - it just couldn't be any better!
George Strait - Ten Strait Hits
Baby's Gotten Good At Goodbye
What's Going On In Your World
Michael Buble - It's Time
Feeling Good
A Foggy Day (In London Town)
You Don't Know Me
Quando, Quando, Quando (Duet with Nelly Furtado)
Home
I can't express how amazed I am by Michael Buble. He's just an amazing singer. You Don't Know Me is a neat song, and so is Quando, Quando, Quando. Plus, the latter is a duet with Nelly Furtado, who I've never heard of before, but judging from her performance in this song, I want to find out more about her. And, of course, you have Home, the song I bought this CD for. Amazing song.
Anna Nalick - Wreck of the Day
Breath (2 AM)
Citadel
I'm also amazed by Anna Nalick's voice. I had planned on listening to more of the CD, but practically everything on it is good and it was getting late, so I just turned off the CD-player.
I had also planned on listening to some Jack Johnson, but I guess I'll have to let that wait until tomorrow...assuming I don't have some new CD's to listen to tomorrow...:D:D:D:D

INXS Switch
New music from 80's down under rockers INXS. Good tunes.
to early to give a detailed review yet. but so far i like what i'm hearing.
The Bomb shelter is very quite with only the sounds of the lovely Sherry putting the final Bling on Santa's deliveries.
