Pink Floyd In Concert - Delicate Sound of Thunder (on VHS). I can't tell a difference between VHS and cd/dvd sound now that I hooked my vcr up using MIT cables. Now I gotta listen to dark side on the sda's. My ht is running r20's and it still sounded phenominal.

Just switched from Directv to Dish and was flipping through the Sirius music channels and they seem not to be as compressed as the XM offerings on Directv.
So far Im impressed and glad that I switched.

    Dayna Manning-Volume 1

Canadian native Dayna Manning admits to being influenced by a large assortment of artists, such as Joni Mitchell, Tool, and Rage Against the Machine, among others. Manning's own music probably slips into what is considered pop/rock, but many of her tunes carry hints of alternative, folk, and roots rock. Her debut album was recorded in 1997 when she was 18 years old.

While some would call her a Canadian Jewel, Dayna Manning is attempting to come of age as an individual in this present world of female singer/songwriters, and with Volume One, she succeeds handsomely. A fine variety of song styles weaves a tempting web throughout this disc -- from the folkie tint of "Half a Man," awhere she recalls the late Sandy Denny, to the rocking "My Addiction," where she describes her man as just that, to "My Kind," a fine song made even finer by the help of Sean Lennon on guitar, bass and organ. With twelve original songs from a fresh young talent, Volume One is highly recommended.

She has a very unique voice and she was part of the Lillith Fair festival in 1997. Unfortunaetly this CD is now out-of-print and can sometimes be found in the used bins. A truely outstanding effort and I wish she would have pursued her musical career and put out another cd. This is another one of my ever increasing "desert island" cds.

"Appreciation of audio is a completely subjective human experience. Measurements can provide a measure of insight, but are no substitute for human judgment. Why are we looking to reduce a subjective experience to objective criteria anyway? The subtleties of music and audio reproduction are for those who appreciate it. Differentiation by numbers is for those who do not".--Nelson Pass

Just finished what may be the Classical SACD now in the collection.
George Szell/Cleveland Orchestra-"Orchestral highlights from the Ring of the Nibelungs". If this doesn't grab you by the short and curlies (even the non-classical listeners) i'd be suprised. "Giant" sound to clear and defined subtle strings, triangles and brass.

    You're bringing this to Troy's, I trust...

George was the last, and possibly the greatest, of the old-school, dictatorial Conductors. In the 60's the Cleveland SO, which was held by many to be the finest in the world at the time, tried to go union.... George told them they could not... and they didn't.

Me? I've been visiting with Mrssrs. Emerson, Lake and Palmer.

The Atlantic Years covers all their essential stuff, preserves the track orders of their individual releases, and is nicely remastered.

Boz Scaggs - My Time: The Anthology (1969-1997)

I believe Tour recommended this one to me. It is a very good album, but I wish it had included more pre "Silk Degrees" material. The R&B cuts from his early albums are excellent. I guess it just means I have to buy those albums to see if the entirity is as good as the sampling on this compilation. That said, this 2 CD set certainly shows how Scaggs morphed his style over time all the while retaining his R&B roots. If you want a good "taste" of Boz Scaggs...this is the ticket. Be careful though...it may leave you wanting more.

Yup... that would be me. Prolly from the old RnR Rem days...

Agree on early Boz releases being the best, e.g., S/T, Moments, Boz Scaggs and Band, and My Time. But the compilation has a good amount of these including "Loan Me a Dime" which is worth the price of admission alone...

Robert Plant and the Strange Sensation-Live in Italy 2005 bootleg radio show

Awaiting my DVD copy of the most recent Soundstage Show at the House of Blues which is on perpetual back order. . Try to help support Public Television by buying offically released products and this is what happens. :( Hope it comes soon. The songs off of Mighty Rearranger are fantastic and his band is phenominally tight and the new twists on old Zep songs is brilliant. Talk about someone not resting on his past and becoming a relic, like umm......oh let'se see cough..cough Rolling Stones cough...cough The Who cough....cough Rod Stewart ;)

Like a fine bottle of wine perfectly aged and ready for drinking. This music gets me all warm inside. Very very enjoyable

Listening to an excellent Gershwin collection that I discovered recently from a rather unexpected source: a British pianist playing and conducting a provincial Danish orchestra I'd never heard before. Fully in tune with Gershwin's jazz-influenced rhythms and melodies and given very good sound.
