John Zeeman...Still Life...... local guitar player..my buddy plays B3 in his band...this is a great recording and sounds nice on the SDAs! jon's a very diversified player. think jeff beck meets bill frisell some southern rock mixed with straight ahead jazz and dirty blues and of course some jimi! (edit) how could i forget: there's even some dixie dregs sounding stuff in here too! very clean and strong bass. this is a well recorded cd, the bass goes very deep and stays well in the mix. plus the drumming was miked real well, too! go get it:D do a google search or show up to one of his shows. then you'll get to see a GREAT B3 player too!

Just for the record, it's "Harder To Breathe". I'm a HUGE fan of Maroon 5, and have been listening to their new CD incessantly.

Emmylou Harris - Roses in the Snow

An Emmylou Harris bluegrass album with Tony Rice, Ricky Skaggs, Jerry Douglas, Willie Nelson, Dolly Parton, even the man in black himself, Johnny Cash. Tracks vary from traditional bluegrass and country selections to Paul Simon's "The Boxer." She's just got an incredible voice, backed with musicians like that you really can't go wrong if you enjoy bluegrass.

My pleasure :) I just watched that DVD for the first time this weekend. What a combination! She just keeps getting better looking with age, too. I picked up 4 or 5 other albums of hers at the Goodwill the other day, I'll let you know how they are, too. :D

    Emmylou Harris- Evangeline

Not as thrilled with this one. Album seems disjointed, some country, some covers, couple of tunes written by Rodney Crowell. Good musicians, recording seems a bit compressed. I think the highlight is the shots of her dancing a jig on the album sleeve.

WOW. It is that "Mr. Sandman". Album includes that gem, "Oh Atlanta", "Bad Moon Rising", and "How High the Moon". What a journey....

If you like female vocalists, you've got to check her out. Most of the stuff I've heard would be classified in the genre of Americana/country. Not quite as sing songy (if that makes sense at all) as Joni Mitchell. Her voice just makes me feel warm inside. I grabbed a bunch of her older stuff on vinyl the other day. I'll update as I have time to listen.

"All the Roadrunning", which Halo referred to above, is a newer release with Mark Knopfler. They make a great combination. There's a studio and a live CD, also a live DVD. Haven't seen anything on a vinyl version, though.:(

Just got done listening to "Quarter Moon...", got me right back on the Emmylou bandwagon. "Leaving Louisiana in the Broad Daylight" is such a well written song, I always seem to enjoy it no matter who's doing it. The only album of hers I have left that's new to me is "The Ballad of Sally Rose", which, going by the album cover alone, I'm in a real hurry to get to.

Great Snags man. . . Tea for the Tillerman is a very special recording and you got it in MFSL.

Question: are you having any trouble with the Abbey Road reissue? So far I've received two different copies from Elusive Disc and both have issues on side two with left channel distortion. The vinyl is pretty crappy too in that there is more surface noise and crackles than usual.

Roy Buchanan - When A Guitar Plays The Blues
    1985, Alligator Records

Reprise of my very favorite of Roy's studio sessions. This version is a mix to CD from original virgin vinyl I did a few years back. Played through the Innersound Isis hybrid ESL's, it is jaw dropping for its detail, transparency and dynamics.

Albert Cummings - True To Yourself
    2004, Blind Pig BPCD5092, CD

Albert's lead solos are actually an anticlimax to his backing rhythm guitar work -- which is a thing of unique style, pace and construction -- for his own vocals. More enjoyable with each new release, this Massachusetts home builder turned bluesman deserves your attention as a blues fan.

He often tours 3-piece because he can, and that pretty much says it all.

    Bryan Adams - Reckless

I'd forgotten how good this album was recorded on vinyl. A friend brought it over last night... and i was floored how well the music sounded... great album, great music, and it just rocks all the way around.

Now i'm going to have to get this album for myself. He got his in near mint condition for only a buck. ;)

Default Hey, hey, mama, said the way you move, Gonna make you sweat, gonna make you groove

Led Zepplin; "The Complete Studio Recordings"

Last night; Led Zepplin I & II

Tonight (and it ain't over yet); Led Zepplin III & IV

I can't seem to get enough. I'm going to listen to the whole box set now that my digital front end sounds decent.

Then I think Pink Floyd, " Shine On" will be next.
