Picked up a halfway decent copy of the 1812 Overture on Friday. Living Stereo LSC 2345 with Bolero on the flip side, cleaned it up and threw it on the table on Saturday. I think this is the first time I've heard the entire 1812 Overture, obviously heard the cannon parts a bunch during fireworks, etc. Very impressed with the soundstage, I'd say it's definitely the widest I've heard in my system, the height is there as well. I can also place the instruments very well within the soundstage. Not very impressive was the cannon shots, sounded like they played them through a tape deck into the concert hall.

Dave Mason - Certified Live

Recorded at the Universal Ampitheater, this double album live set is Mason at the absolute top of his game vocally and instrumentally. The opening cut, an ass bumping funked-up arrangement of "Feelin' Alright", sets a standard that is never compromised as Dave works through several Traffic covers, an Eagles standard, a Dylan/Hendrix anthem, slow blues, and several of his signature hits.

A "must have" for Mason fans or exactly where to start for someone looking for a solid introduction.

I was there for the concert and a terrfic one it was! Thanks for helping me relive a great memory! :D

If memory serves BMDP, this had a better sound with the Waiting for Columbus album....which is actually what I am listening to, AGAIN :D. I have gotten my throat raw trying to sing along at performance levels to this song. No, I will not provide a U-tube of me singing to it. ;)

I'm listening to the song "Dixie Chicken" right now, so that song won't bee too far away. Crap, who am I foolin'? That's on disc two. I'll catch up to ya' here in an hour or so..... ;)

I think I have that particular LP in my collection so I'll have to give that version a whirl when I have the time. Good tunes man, good tunes! :D
