    Default PBS Special: Muscle Shoals

Anyone else catch this last night (Monday)?

I flicked to it and was caught - fantastic show.

So many stories and things I never knew about all the great music made down there.

I am a slow boy, but now I 'get' the lyrics from Sweet Home Alabama:
"Muscle Shoals has got the Swampers"

    Thumbs up!

I was flipping channels on my 20" CRT tv last night and saw about 5 seconds of it. I'll end up buying the blu ray ( when it drops more in price) so I can enjoy it in the HT in lossless and 1080p.

The section on when Aretha Franklin came down was awesome.

When she broke out and found the style she was looking for brought tears to my eyes and the hair on my neck stand up.

Same for the Duane Allman section - never knew he was a Muscle Shoals player.

I had the BD pre-ordered. I thought I knew a lot about the history of the Muscle Shoals music scene, I did not. Great movie, great sound track (both the movie and CD), and as a music lover a very emotional engagement with the movie. I agree with the above, the section on Aretha Franklin was spell-binding. Who knew a bunch of white boys could play like that!

I enjoyed everything about it except everything Bono had to say. Whatever he is doing in there for commentary... well, who knows.

    I didn't get Bono's relevance either.

Other then that, phenomenal. I had no idea Jimmy Cliff recorded there; I've always felt "Sitting in Limbo" was a really well produced song.
