    Default RM7200 and Parallel Wiring

Hi, new to the forum and just received new RM7200 system with PSW 550 sub.

I had actually pre-wired my finished basement to accomodate the RM6700 system which I had read in the manual an alternate hookup option to parallel wire the left and right front speaker output from the receiver to the front satellites, and to the speaker wire inputs on the sub. The 7200 manual does not explicitly give this parallel setup as an alternate option (it just has the speaker wire hookup into the 550 sub and then out from the sub to the front satellites).

Does anyone know if it is okay to parallel wire the 7200 system? This would save me alot of time re-running wires through the wall to accomodate the wires from the sub back to the front speakers.

    Thanks

I'm not sure about your terminology on this one. If you wire two speakers in parallel, it drops the ohms in half, which could be dangerous. If you "parallel wire the left and right front speaker output from the receiver to the front satellites" you would lose your stereo sound. Maybe I'm not reading this right.

You should run a sub cable from the receiver LFE/sub out to the sub. On the receiver, set sub on, all speakers to small, x-over at 80hz (or 100). Run wire from the left output to the left speaker and wire from the right output to the right speaker.

Oh yeah, welcome to the forum!!

You can run parallel speaker wires. The problem is that the main speakers are still getting a full range signal because they have to be set to large. As Polkthug said, an LFE cable would be best.

    Thanks for the replies.

I got everything hooked up this weekend using the "parallel wire" method. I didn't have an opportunity to try out alot of DVDs yet, but what I did try out sounded great. If I get adventurous later, I may try the LFE cable method and compare.
