    Default Carver Amp needs Service

Well another bad ebay deal. I just won a bid on ebay for a Carver TFM-35x only to find it needs to be repaired. I have already won another bid on a Carver C-2 Pre Amp. To be shipped tomarrow. I need a authorized repair shop so I can send these items to be repaired.

Anybody know of some place that works on these ? Needless to say I will never buy on ebay again.

Thumbs down run like the wind!

Put it back on eBay, sell it for what you can and avoid the Carver amps. I'm working through the same situation and have had a Carver repaired before. It lasted just long enough to for the 90-day warranty to expire.

I can already tell you that others will say the opposite, but I've been down the broke Carver/eBay road twice now. Never again.

Just to add a note, I saw the other post with the Carver Repair
number. I'll no doubt be giving them a call. Thanks Club Polk

I feel for I-Sig's bad experieince, but he is in the minority here. It's an ebay issue, not a Carver issue.

Hopefully the number you have is for Sunfire. Carver factory repairs are now handled by them. Don't be surprised if they quote you a bench fee in the $150 neighborhood. If the problem is not too large, in addition to the repair the fee will cover any upgrades since your amp was built and return shipping.

I have had my 1.5t repaired at the factory several years ago. It came back sweeter sounding than ever and is still going strong.

I hope you are pursuing your case aggressively with ebay. You can recoup up to $175 from them.

    Good luck.

The carvers can break like anything else and so can the repair (like everything else). I normally shop around for a different one rather than paying a repair cost though.

I have another TFM-35x it is flawless, I use to own a M1.5t it too
was flawless. I like the equipment. I e-mailed the seller who has responded. I explained the problem I was having, and I'm waiting to see what he suggest. I have contacted Carver/Sunfire and found out the repair could cost $75.00- $197.00 depending on the problem. I was not however able to speak with the tech person. The person I spoke with said they should be able to fix it unless it's a transformer problem. Which we don't think it is. Right now I'm in favor of repair. The C-2 pre amp I got on ebay is in route so I'll see if it's working good I may have to send them both. I'm in about $500 now. The Sunfire Pre I would have brought was $500 by it's self. So I need to get something from the seller or ebay. I'll let you guys know what happens.

    This is another update:

I reached the Carver service tech. She said it sounds like the amp is" drawing current". Price for repair $103.00-$197.00. I'm waiting to see what the seller wants to do. Send me a refund, or send money for the repair.

The C-2 Pre amp is at the post office I was at work when they tried to deliver it. I'll get it tomarrow.

DO NOT let the seller string you along. You have 30 days that ebay will stand behind you and that's it...

I'd say get the refund and hunt another 35 if that's what you want...

Would you believe it I'm 0-2. Got the pre amp today hooked it up
it played good for two minutes. Than the distortion kicked in. I unplugged it , and put it in a box. After I get the amp back from Carver then I'll send the pre amp.

I'm dissapointed. But mostly I'm suprised. See, I look at the world
today, and people are crazy. I mean people are going through some serious changes. I would never cheat, somebody today. Now back when I was younger I might try to put something over on someone if I thought I could get away with it. But , now I think differently. Technology is so advanced. People can find you. You think you're anonymous because you're on ebay, but you're not.

Now the person who sold me the amp doesn't know I have his name and address. He did not give it to me. He was an email address, on a ebay account. Something bad could happen to him or his family. He wouldn't even know why. You , we can't cheat people , or mislead people. These are some dangerous times we live in. People will blow your brains out for nothing. And then you take from them. Someone on the forum suggested I put it back for sale on ebay. I understand turnabouts fair play. But I don't live like that today. I have integrity today. Thats from all the lifes lessons. The bad things you do they come back on you! So lets do the right thing. If something you're selling is not working right tell people. Let folks know, if it's broke it's broke. I've learned.....

    Jmasterj,

I really agree with you, hope that maybe just maybe we are above that on this forum, I mean I sold something to somebody and I must have sent the person 5 or 6 emails not only to make sure they got what they paid for, but that it was working right for them, the person answered my e-mail and said enough already it works fine, but that's just me. I have heard some real horror stories about buying and selling stuff online but hopefully we live and learn.

That's what I meant. Advertise it as broke! Don't be a dumbass and list it otherwise.
