SCORE!!! RTi70'S at CC!! SCORE!!

PolkThug, I owe you big time. Yesterday, after you told me about the CC upgrade plan, I called CC and they had 3 pairs of RTi70's left.

So, last night, I took in my beloved R30's (sad to see them go) and traded up for a pair of RTi70's. The best part is, CC sold me a pair of unopened, brand spankin' new speakers, for $300!! My R30's were purchased for $200/pair, so I laid out $100 and took home a brand new pair or 70's. Sweet!!

They also had 2 pair going for $240, but these were open box...


Upon opening these beauts when I got home, the first thing that struck me was these things are BIG. Much taller than my R30's. About the same width, and a little deeper, but they appear very much larger.

I got them hooked up, but only had the chance to listen to them for a short while. My immediate impressions were much deeper and louder bass, but very musical without being boooomy. The tweeter is also a huge improvement over the R30's. The treble is up to the same level as the mids. The R30's treble always sounded a bit recessed. They are also much louder. I usually listened to the R30's with the volume at -19, but now that same level is reached at about -22. I can only attribute this to the increased sensitivity.

Overall, I'm as happy as a pig in ****. CC has a great deal there with that upgrade plan. Thanks again PolkThug for bringing that to my attention.

Glad to help! The upgrade plan is great. I bought some speakers before I started working there, then I "upgraded" to some Rti8's after I got a job there, and they actually PAID ME to upgrade. :D

You can also upgrade your sub there too.

swapped out my sub at CC. Took my 'free with purchase' 202 back and traded it for a Velodyne CHT10. They had it marked $299 and also had a 10% off sale so it came to $269. They gave $200 credit for the Polk so after tax I got the Velodyne for $75.:)

Yesterday, I exchanged my RTI100 with the last NIB RTI70 at Woodlands, TX Circuit City. Price displays 199 but actual price in computer is $149 for new. My RTI100 was $171 when I bought 5 months ago, but store manager let me exchange and got back $40 back. 70 sounds better than 100. So Woodlands CC still have 1 pair 70 open box and 1 pair 100 that I returnded. Also in Collage Station, TX CC still have 1 pair 70 open box. You can PM Dallas price in these stores or asked store manager to cut a deal, Woodland store manager is Derrick and he gave me good deal when I bought RTI100 5 months ago. Go check it out. I like my new RTI70 sound very much.

Shoot, I'm always hearing about these incredible deals people are getting for discontinued Polk models at Circuit City. I live within twenty miles of TWO CCs and neither one has ANY discontinued stuff in stock. :( On a happier note, I got good deals on most everything in my current system through eBay and I couldn't be more pleased with the sound!

tonko, i'm with you man. the only good deal my two CC's offer at on Polks with problems.. i can get 1 RTi100, but it has a broken base for $109. but who needs only one speaker with a broken base?

The CC's here don't offer the same great deals other CC"s do. But the upgrade program does sound cool

How do you like the Velodyne CHT10? I'm thinking of upgrading my 303 to a CHT10.

So far I like it just fine! I can definitely tell a difference from the 202, which was a bit small for my room. The velodyne has a different kind of bass tone, more smooth and mellow, I guess.
