    Question Sattelite/Cable music channels

Does anybody ever utilize the "cd quality" music channels?

Personally, I like them for general listening. The no commercials has me hooked.

I like listening since I get to hear some stuff I might not otherwise. I have stumbled across some good stuff I otherwise would have missed.

I have a Sirius satellite setup and have auditioned a XM satellite setup in my two channel rig at home. Its cool for 10 bucks a month but to call it "cd quality" no way. In my experience it is definitely veiled sounding compared to cds and the volume is not as loud (lower gain). Its cool when I'm too lazy to spin cds from a single disk player that I have though.

    Comcast Digital- Philly area,
Great stereo image, bass is weak and not down to 20Hz, dynamic range is not CD quality. the over all quality is about a 100k MP3.

The song selections are rather good and reaches every gender.

Music Choice on Time Warner Cable ...

Several "favorite" channels I choose from. Great source for lazy listening with nothing specific in the collection comes to mind.

Sometimes hear an old tune I'd nearly forgotten on the "Classic Rock" and "Classic R&B" channels. And if one comes on that truly has been forgotten, a glance at the TV gives all the info.

I listen to a few of the channels on Direct TV (I think it is Music Choice).

It is not CD quality, but is better than FM radio in terms of reception. I do like the variety, lack of commercials, and the more obscure artists. I also have to hike up the volume control quite a bit to get it to "normal".

I've found the bass to be about normal, but generally a lack of dynamics is my biggest gripe. You don't get much fine detail or soundstaging from it either. That isn't a big deal, as I don't critically listen to this source.

All in all, I'm glad to have it as part of my basic subscription package.
