Have LSI9s, LSI7s and LSI-C...need sub...which one?

I have been trying to get the above setup to work with my passive sub from RBH Sound with its SAM-200 sub amp, but all I get is garble. Have a fairly small apartment and I tend to like my neighbors, so I don't want earthmoving bass, just a crisp nice fast feedback on my LFE channel in my 5.1 system. ALl other speakers are set to full range which is fine because they sound excellent this way. I just know I am missing out on some of the effects found on this last and sixth channel when playing DTS and Dolby Digital material.

What to do? Is the PSW-303 a good 8" sub? I don't need more than 8" really. Also, I love my Polk LSIs, but I don't have to be loyal when it comes to subs as I know there is much out here that beats the polk SW by a mile or two.

Any suggestions? My budget is limited to about $250 nicely used. Probably powered as my amp setup does not have a sixth channel.

If you are playing things fairly quiet, set all your speaks to large, and the sub to off/no. This will route the LFE (.1) channel through the LSi-9's. Just don't push it loud, or you will wreck the woofers.

Consider DIY if you are in the $250 region. $300 for the passive Shiva will ALL parts included from this website. You'll need about 200 clean watts for this sub.

Sounds like a set-up problem. You shouldn't be getting "garble."

How do you have the amp and passive sub hooked to your receiver?

Not getting garble...sorry, just my way of saying that the bass I get is just not clean and crisp and fast....too much "let's get ready to RUMBLE...". That's all.

I have LSI's all around also. I was using the Polk PSW 450 12" .
A very nice sub for the price ..but with DTS/DD it does give the impact that is needed for HT.

You spent/invested into some great speakers and on the sub end want to set a rather "low" budget...Not in line with the LSI prices.

Could you save a bit longer? Well worth it in the end.
