    Default 7.1 Speaker Choice

Hey guys, this is my first post here, please bear with me.

I will be getting a 7.1 AVR (HK AVR 630) which means that I will need to get 2 additional speakers. I was thinking of a couple different options. I have RT600I as my mains, RT25's as surrounds and the CS 245 as my center. I will be moving into an appartment (not sure of the measurements) 9 foot ceiling. However I do know that the room living room is open into the dinning room.

1st - Find a pair of RT800I's as my mains, use the 600's a my sides and 25's as my surrounds.

2nd - Find a set of RT70's as my mains 600's as sides and 25's as surrounds.

3rd - Keep 600's as mains GET rt50's as sides and keep the 25's as rears.

lastly- keep 600's as mains, move the 25's as sides, GET a set of polk FX? as surrounds.

What do you guys think the best combo would be? If you have other sugestions that would be more than welcomed. Thanks!

Hi, Welcome to the forum....first off, let me say I'm not really familure with the models of Polks you're checking out...all I wanted is to make sure that you knew you don't HAVE to have two more speakers.....I have the AVR 430, which is 7.1 also, and I just run 5.1/2 surround off of it...I'm sure you knew this, just didn't want you to be misled...good luck!!

Consider aesthetics. If you're moving into an apartment, space is a premium. Not sure if you'll want floorstanding speakers as rears.

Go with your last option. It's cheaper and won't take up too much space. Another option is to just keep your 5.1 setup.

Also consider a small subwoofer (Hsu STF 1 or 2) for enhanced bass.
