New Toys!!!

I got some new toys this weekend. I picked up a speaker trade and an SVS from Sami (great guy by the way).

Then I went shopping for a new TV and ended up with the Toshiba 57H93 HDTV. Fryz had them on sale for $1699 ($2499 pretty much everywhere else including several online places, I think Onecall had it at $1699 also, but then there's shipping...)

I traded the 150s for the RTi70s. A bit of a step backwards, but the 70s just work better for what I'm trying to accomplish and I prefer their sound overall over the 150s in my application, room size, etc...

That SVS is the 16-46 PCI Cylinder sub. There's no need for me to go into detail about that, you all know how awesome their subs are. This is one bad mofo though, I can't imagine having anything better for the main living area...hats off to SVS for making a great product!!! I haven't even calibrated this thing yet, but out of the box it has great extension down around 16hz...the project next weekend is to get it dialed in...

The TV is also phenominal, absolutely gorgeous picture...was pleasantly surprised by the Toshiba...especially at a savings of $800...a very nice TV...again haven't even calibrated anything yet and I really probably don't need to...just looks beautiful as-is...

Don't think of the move from the 150s to the 70s as a step down, when you added the SVS as your bottom layer. You have one of the better balanced setups that you could have for Polk HT.

Try switching between small and large for the 70s while tweaking your sub next weekend. I found small settings to work much better for my setup with my dual Shivas. The 70s don't feel pinched when pushed real hard if they don't have to pump alot of bass through them. The mids and highs just open up.

I also like your new Toshiba, nice clean look to your room.

That's exactly what I did. Hooked them up, I feel they sound MUCH better on small...even my wife could hear the difference. I also get overall bass response with them on small because the 70s aren't cancelling out in the 40 - 80 range...at least I guess that's why...

It looks like I made the right choices for the setup in the living room...I can't imagine getting anything that meets my need better than what I got...

You might want to reconsider the placement of the SVS, might get some nasty standing waves and such from being in the corner like that.

very nice set up. the 70's are a fave of many people here. me included. what did you do with your 150's? pocket the extra change or did you get the SVS with the savings? ;)

I talked to SVS and they said that would be the best place out of the toptions I presented them with...don't really have a bunch of options...but it sounds beautiful there, just need to get it dialed in this weekend...

I worked out a deal with Sami where I got the RTi70s and SVS, and he got the 150s, the HK PA2000, and some cash.

I was looking to get my HT for the living room sounding better without having amps all over the place in there (saving that for the theater room - construction starts next weekend!!!). He was looking for a good 2 ch setup without having to add a subwoofer for his living room...so we both got what we were looking for...a great deal...
