I'm looking for a din install kit for my 1999 Chevy Silverado, so far i have only found a few and they put the radio smack dab in the middle of the 1.5 din space and it looks bad. Anyone know of a kit that use's the extra space with a compartment?

Thats typical ..most dash kits do that... put the HU in the middle unless it comes with a slot for an EQ...those are becomming less and less it seams. I had modify one for a 02 tahoe..
so basically..your S.o.S. unless you do something yourself. could get some plastic from hobby shop that matches up and modify an existing dash kit
Peace sells, but who's buying?
yeah, i figured i'd end up having to make one myself. Just thought i'd give it one last shot before digging in. Thanks
A 1/2 DIN wouldn't really make a very big compartment. Usually you'll only get one of those if you have a double DIN slot...

It would be big enough to throw the remote in, or a few cd's, just anything to keep from having 2 big ugly spaces above and below the radio. I'll fiddle with it and see what i come up with.
heres an option, its a center channel speaker from clarion

"The SRK5 packs a 25-watt amplifier, five forward-firing 3/4" full-range speakers, and two internal 1" midbass speakers into a 1/2-DIN (1" tall) size unit! "
Ok, the 25 watt amp, I believe, but the description is kinda funny. 3/4 inch "full range" speakers and two 1 inch "midbass" speakers, huh? How is a 3/4 inch speaker full-range and 1 inch midbass? Man, I thought my 6.75" speakers were almost midbass, but I guess I only needed 1" speakers. That's awesome :)

still doesn't solve my problem of finding an install kit that it will work in anyway.
