    Default Onkyo DX-C390 CD Player

    I'm thinking of replacing my 20 year old Sony CD player and I've been looking into the Onkyo DX-C390 player/changer.

    Any opinions?

    The Onkyo appears to be a decent changer...

    If you are sold on the idea of a changer (which I am) you might also want to consider the Sony CDP-CA70ES. Solidly built Sony ES (5 yr warranty) with very good sound. Oade Brothers has them for around $225.

    The Denon DCM-380 also has decent sound quality for about the same price. The build quality might not be as good as the Sony.

    Hey there,

    I have the previous model, the dx-c380. I have found it to be a solid performer. Good sound quality, quiet operation. I have tried out a few CD changers over the last couple of years (Denon DCM-370, Yamaha cdx-506) and I like this one the best. The Denon had good sound quality but was noisy as hell when changing discs, and had trouble with discs that were a bit scratched up (that the Onkyo played fine)...the Yammie worked fine but I like the 6 disc capacity of the Onkyo.

    I bought mine refurbed off of Ubid.com about a year and a half ago and have had no issues with it at all. Of course it doesn't get much use as my main system has one of the Sony 300 disc mega-changers. In fact I'm not using it at all right now. I'm not trying to hijack your thread to sell mine...but if you have any interest let me know.

    In any event, if the new model is as solid as the old one, I would think you will be happy with it.
