Default harman avr630 w/ polk speakers setup?

ok i have the harman kardon avr630 receiver. when i setup the speakers, do i choose:

center CSi30 - large or small?
    front left/right R50 - large or small?
subwoofer - LFE only or LFE and front L/R?

the rears are R15's so i can set those as small.

to my ear, the large settings sound better and fuller. does the settings matter for some technical reason or should i just go w/ my ears?

Of course, the reigning piece of advice on the forum is to do what sounds best to you. However, I would think that the R50's would sound better set to small. LARGE means the receiver sends the full frequency signal to the speaker channel, SMALL means the receiver sends only the frequencies above your selected subwoofer crossover to the channel, and the lower frequencies go to the sub. The standard crossover is 80Hz. Most speakers handle above 80 well, whereas a sub really handles below 80Hz well. Plus, setting the crossover lower than 80 compromises the LFE signal sent to the sub. I don't have the specs of the R50's in front of me, but it were me I'd set them to small and let your sub do the dirty work. Definitely set the center and surrounds to small. They'll bottom out way too quick if you send them the full signal. But again, whatever sounds best to you. No offense, we all have our budget limitations, but it pains me to think that you're running such cheap speakers with such a nice receiver. Another reason to set them to small.

lol, feel free to remedy your pain by sending me better speakers! :D

yeah, i think i'm just going to go by ear. the R50's are supposed to go down to 40Hz and the CSi30, 52Hz.

If you're setting your speakers to small and still not getting as full of a sound with that sub, you may want to play with sub placement if possible. You also may want to make sure the crossover on the sub itself is set correctly...

With a good sub, you really shouldn't have a need to set the fronts to large unless you do have bigger fronts...
