I think you have an agenda, but that could just be me.

If you dislike them, buy another brand, make a genuine comparison and post the data.

If they still suck, to you, given the appropriate information and facts, then they are not your style. They certainly aren't the end all subwoofer. There are brands that are superior, that's a given.

    Good luck!

    OK.

I am not impressed by their line up of woofers. They need to improve their Line ups with some better Woofers. I bought the MM10 but they didn't live up to the reviews. :(

Polks warranty and service are A+ NO DOUDT.

Polk's strength is that they are the best speaker you can buy for under $350 period. And you have to get into the $400+ range to find one with more detail. Their subs however are not on par with their awesome MM6. They dont suck by any means and Id rate them a lot higher than most subs you can buy at Circuit City or Best Buy but I dont think they are as good as the likes of Image Dynamics, JL Audio or Crossfire.

I agree wholeheartedly on dumping the Momo name. To me, is associates Polk with the ricer/hip-hop crowd which turns me off in a big way. Not saying there is anything wrong with this crowd just that it aint for me and when I associate an audio product with them, like Audiobahn for instance, I dont think sound quality but rather flash and loud volume.

For exampe, you dont see DynAudio or MB Quart speakers in a slammed to the ground, neon out the ass, NOS equipped, pink Civic too often. I would rather associate Polk Audio with Focal and MB Quart than Rockford Fosgate or Audiobahn.

I wish Polk Audio would come out with a $400 line of speakers that looked like JL or MB speakers. Plain and black but whoop ass. Then name them something like the "Premium" line or something like that. Id line up for those.

It's been said before on the forum that we're working on a higher end line of speakers that won't be co- branded with Momo. The Momo line isn't for everyone, but I think it's better than anything we've ever made. The dB line is entry level product so it's obvious why people don't get excited about it, and Momo's not much more expensive. When the "best" line comes out one day then people should be impressed. Speakers lines take a while to develop...

You don't see Dynaudio anywhere, though...

We're quite a bit more mainstream than Focal or Quart (especially before Rockford bought them out), so we are more like Rockford or Audiobahn, but thankfully we haven't chromed anything yet.

You do see a lot of JL in the above mentioned cars, just because it's popular product. These guys gotta buy something, let's just hope it's not Audiobahn... ;)

Yeah, I got way turned off to JL when they became the "official sponsors of the Ride with FunkMaster Flex show". Holla ya'heard.

I love the Momo speakers and think that, dollar for dollar, they are the best you can get, I just aint thrilled with the Momo name. I also think the DB line isnt too shabby either and I woldnt consider them entry level by any means.

And I flat cannot wait til the "premium" Polk speakers come out! I can guarantee ya Ill be one of the first in line! Ive heard Polks high end home speakers in Tweeters showroom (playing a DVD of Alice in Chains Unplugged) and they were simply unbelievable, so I know they got the know-how to give Focal and Quart some serious competition!

That AIC unplugged DVD is GREAT. Some of the songs I don't dig acoustically, but overall it sounds amazing. Sure beats me Dream Theater DVD... worst sounding thing I have!

Hopefully at CES we'll see new stuff. Only what, 6 months away? hahaha

I'd rather have a tempest/shiva, or something from ED in the momo's price range.......

But mainstream talking, SQ wise....It's close, I'd rather have a perfect myself, or type R.......all good subs in the same price range.

I'd surely want to hear the new line coming........

Damn A-Bahn haters......under the chrome are decent amps :), and I love the AlumQ series.....if they would just get rid of the chrome......

I stare at the **** and go blind.....

    AAHH!! Blasphemy!

    Dream Theater Rules!!

Plus you must consider the AIC DVD was produced by MTV which owns half the world. The Metropolis DVD was recorded thru the PA at one of their concerts. Not to mention they dont have near the funding.

Anyways, I thought it sounded good and THEY RULE! Petrucci is the master! :p

I just remember being completely dissapointed with the highs... since they weren't there! There was something else wrong with it, can't remember off hand. Anyway, I thought the CDs sounded much better. And folks, that's my 2 cents.

Altec, why don't you get yourself registered? You've been around a few months now, might as well.

Macleod - there was a "Mike Portnoy is god" thread on CAF a couple weeks ago that you'd probably enjoy. It was kinda fun.

I never registered because I was too lazy..........

    Finally got around to it
10" Pioneer TS-255C, ported tuned to 38hz with 25in^2 port area.

    Run off Profile CA1200 (900w@4ohm)

this would create a "sledge hammer" effect and a terrible localization of bass. lets say we downfire the sub... not only would it be localized, but the reflected bass waves would shoot right back at the cone and probably cancel out a lot of the sound... whereas the conical "normal" sub would allow these waves to bounce all around.

How do you want Polk to compare the thing to a Type X if the Type X hasn't been seen by anyone for sale?

Actually, over on CAF, a guy did get one. There was a big debate over it, but he gave his review on it and he liked it.

I'm a regular on CAF, I agree with everyone there......there is no way a typeX can get louder than a W7.....15mm more excursion, had to be a bad install obviously......

And also, a lot of times, when youve saved and waited to buy a certain component and then you finaly get it, its the best sounding thing youve ever heard, even if you know better! LOL

Most dont want to admit, "well I waited for 4 months and finally got my (whatever) and it sounds like crap!" ;)

I didn't say it was "ALL" of the SPL factors......but come on, the W7 has almost double the displacement.....

    Type-X has a big disadvantage.

I know JL rules over MTX subs. I have an 8" MTX Thunder6000, their 2nd from the top of their line. When I switched over to my JL 8W1's (their bottom of the line) it was a night and day imporvement.

The MTX didnt suck but the JLs were just a lot more musical.

This could be attributed to the enclosure but it was still interesting.

Actually, the CV stroker had 11mm xmax. I think it was decided on CAF that xmax really isn't all that important in vented enclosures. But it has a large effect in sealed ones. It seems that there are a few other factors against the Type X though that make it inferior to the other super subs...at least on paper. You'd have to listen to it to find out for yourself, as we all know that install is much more important than the sub itself!
