Default Have you "snugged" your speaker today?

Just a reminder; I snugged the mounting bolts on all my drivers yesterday, and thought I got a new pair of speakers. Some of them required as much as a half-turn.

FYI: Don't over do it; just snug them, especially if you have plastic bezel rings around your drivers. I use the 2-finger rule, I snug the set-screw as far as I can using my thumb and index finger only.

Cheap tweak that makes a big difference, check them every 6 months.

    Default Wrong forum but...

... I had problems with loose screws on the woofer of one of my 1974 Klipsch Cornwalls. Discovered this listening to the unbelievable track "Way Down Deep" on Jennifer Warnes' somewhat obscure CD "The Hunter". Had some buzzing on one of the Cornies when it was cranked up. I was afraid I had a dragging voicecoil, but it was nothing more than eight loose screws.

Definitely worth checking screws for tightness occasionally (every 30 years, based on my experience). Be careful with any driver using self-tapping screws in wood or MDF that you don't overtighten/strip them!

(now we're talking about stripping AND screwing...)
