    Default Collateral

I saw Collateral last night at a new theater here. I thought the sound was very nicely done. Lots of different music in it (jazz, hip hop, rock) and good action sequences too. Well acted, in roles that are not the norm for the stars. The story was good, although it wasn't hard to see where it was going. I'll be buying it when it hits DVD.

This movie surprised me - one of the rare occasions a movie is better than the trailer makes it out to be.

    Definitely a recommend.

i wasnt a fan of the movie. i felt it couldnt decide what kind of movie it wanted to be. action movie? personal growth movie? no we'll just have long drawn out slow parts inbetween ok action scenes (although the club scene with cruise is awesome)

and just once i'd like a movie not to have to come around "full circle" /shrug

acting was ok, cruise wanted to take a different role and i always give props for that

    overall, i'd say its worth a rental...but i wish i wouldnt have spent $6 on it =P

    Default collateral great

I watched this movie using the Dolby 2.0 option on my LSi25's and I was floored....it is by far the best sounding DVD I have (out of a collection of 70).

I really enjoyed this film. Michael Mann does great work. I only wish they'd taken the ending in a different direction. It would have been so much better if Cruise just goes on his way after causing all this havoc, leaving Foxx to wonder about things. I think this film would have been much more suited to a more open-ended finale. That said, much of the film was very well done, excellent acting, and some damn fine dialogue.

HEAT is still Mann's best film in my book, but this one is a real treat. As for the originator of this thread, this film came out on DVD on Tuesday.

Ok, I know I'm late with this, but here's my take. The film was above average (the club scene was worth watching twice!) until the end, which sucked the big one. That was the biggest bag of Hollywood PC crap I ever saw.

It was nice to see they actually trained Cruise with his H&K.

Yes. A movie coming around full circle was too much for me. I was actually rooting for Cruise's character to take out the cabbie and the girl !

Problem with Cruise's character was that he was a skilled contract killer but with a soft heart and it ended up being his downfall to a cab driver !

I suppose it's possible though there should have been more of a compelling story for Cruise to open up like that.

You 1991 owners are crazy about your pieces!!!

I'd like to buy one someday. Most H&K is way overpriced, IMO.

This was one of my favorites from 2004. Jamie Foxx was excellent and it was refreashing to see Tom Cruise play a bad guy. Michael Mann did a really good job capturing the city of LA and the movie never lost my attention.

Yeah, a contract killer is going to let that happen to him? NOT!!!

I thought this was a really good movie, but i was watching it after the kids had gone to bed and the gunshots are really loud, sounded like someone was shooting in my living room... :D

great flick, I would have enjoyed alternate endings on the dvd but all in all I thought it was really well done.
