How about lowering taxes instead of plopping down 6-7 grand a set for all those girls.

This is actually old news. I heard an interview with an Army surgeon that defended the surgeries. He said that although some people view it as a waste of taxpayer dollars, it was actually a relevant procedure for Army plastic surgeons to perform. There are women in the military that have been injured in training accidents, combat, automobile crashes, etc, that require the services of a plastic surgeon. If that means the military does implants, so be it. Damn small price to pay for our service women if you ask me.

rather than having plastic surgeons in the military, maybe they should send those servicemen and women that have a true "need" for plastic surgery to a civilian specialist. i can't see how having plastic surgeons in the army is more cost efficeint, or i don't see have having general practice surgeons doing plastic surgery on the side would be better for the person who needs it rather than going to someone who specializes in plastic surgery and didn't just learn it because Uncle Sam told them to.

i may be wrong but i'm pretty sure that if someone needs to see a specialist doctor of some sort that isn't available at a military hospital they are allowed to go see a civilian. can someone correct me? my father is retired military and that is what i remember the procedure was.

The military has doctors in all fields and each needs to stay proficient, just like their civilian counterparts. Civilian doctors are a lot more costly than military doctors. Try paying for surgery without insurance and you'll see.

    Hmmm...
Maybe if it's reconstructive breast plants...thats okay...but if just for army chicks to look better in their uniforms, then we shouldn't be paying for it. Well...y'all...I'm not 18 yet so I don't have to pay anything.:D

I could see it if the soldier had to pony up for the materials. To be honest, I've read many of times where military doctors often suck. They aren't held to as tight a standard and cannot be sued for malpractice. Besides a good surgeon in the civilian world can make 10x more. Don't get me wrong, there are some top notch doctors in the military, but it's also easy for a sucky one to get by.
