RT55i vs LSi9

This may have been done before but I have been playing around lately (far too much time, not) and those RT55is really are amazing, it suprises me just how good they are, good sub satelite speakers..... Have heard the LSi9 at the stores and was suitably impressed with them (much more than the LSi25), would love to have them at home and have a play, has anyone done any side by side comparisons????

What are your thoughts? I know there are a lot of RT55i owners out there, would you consider upgrading to the LSi9s?

I own the RT55i's and have heard the LSi9's several times. Both are very good speakers. My guess is that in "most" cases the LSi9 would be a superior speaker...BUT...that may not justify the increased $ outlay in your situation. At this point I would not get rid of my 55's to upgrade to the 9's. If I can get to Troy's PFG with mine we could do a shootout between my RT55i's and his LSI9's (he still has the 9's...right?). After that I might change my mind.

Gotta love them 55i's...not saying I have no interest in LSi9's...but for now the 55i's are having no trouble floating my boat. :)

Depends on your associated equipment and tastes.

Not knowing any of your backround, I would keep the 55i's, and save up till you can buy the LSi-9's...... and keep both :)

Depends on your situation. If this is for 2ch stereo, no theater at all, I'd go 9's all day long. Well worth the extra money, if you can justify the extra money to the wife. ;) I would rather have the musicallity of the LSi's personally...

The shootout thing would sure be great.

It seems those with the 55is are very fond of them indeed, 'toxis' makes a good point, the 9s might night be as good for HT as the 55s, I only heard the 9s with music through them, they sounded very good, maybe not as warm as the 55s so probably might be a bit bright for movies, couldn't be sure. I really am amazed how much you can squeeze out of the 55is.

Has anyone tried to do their own SDA imaging with different speakers say such as 55is or 9s???, I have done some reading and the concept is not unacheivable, would take some minute adjusting but once done........Could be kinda cool...

My RT55i's are powered by a little 45 wpc Denon and they sound OK I guess. Never had the chance to hear the lsi9's. I wonder how the 55's would be with a good sub or with 200 or 250 watts behind them. Someday I may do both or one or the other.......just not sure which on would give me the "most" satisfaction......?

Good enough to be asked to turn the bass down in my dorm. I never got them loud enough to get the to run out of steam. Don't get wrong htough, they were moving some serious air through the power ports, though.

To me the 55's are as much a Polk classic as the Monitor 10, what a great speaker....
