    Default new cd player suggestions

    OK,

I'm currently using a Sony DVD/CD/SACD player and am wondering if I could improve my music sound quality if I get a dedicated CD/SACD/DVD-A player. First off, would I notice an improvement and if so, what models would you gys suggest I look into? Keep in mind that I'm in Fairbanks Alaska and don't have many options locally. Thanks!

PM, your question appears to be based on the misconception that some have that a player which does DVD-As/SACDs but not video DVDs is somehow "dedicated". As compared to the 780nm wavelength laser which reads CDs, a 650nm wavelength laser is used to read DVD-As/SACDs and also video DVDs. The same laser reads the same digital 1s and 0s from all three discs; no specialization is possible. So, the answer to your question is a flat no.

Ah, but the better ones run on seperate circuits and use different lasers for each, so it does matter.
