    Default Center channels as surrounds

Anyone ever tried using center channel speakers as surrounds? Just curious.

I'm using CSi30's for side, as well as back surrounds. They have a shallow depth (6 1/2") which is great for wall mounting. Make sure that you give the ports enough room to breathe. I also had to drill holes in the back for mounts.

Cool. How do your Csi30's compare to the "standard" setup such as using the RTi28's, 38's or Fxi30's?

Another thing about the 30's, due to their lack of height, they tuck up near the ceiling really nice.

I actually have used 28's, 38's, and the CSi30's for surrounds. They're much better than the 28's in think. Bigger sound due to having two 5 1/4" drivers. There was a 3 month gap between taking down the 38's, and putting up the CSi30's due to a room addition, but they seem fairly close. The 38's might go a little lower, but unless you're running them on large it won't matter.

I have been experimenting on setting my surrounds on Large, and they sound really good. I think that anytime I can keep the sound coming out of the intended speaker, the better the surround experience. (Without distortion of course :-)

Cool. Thanks. Now if I can find a couple of Csi30's at a knockout price, I'd consider replacing my RTi28's as surrounds with them.
