    Default DVD copying software...

I recently purchased a new Dell Dimension XPS, generation 4 pc for home and what a kick ass PC it is. Anyway, it came with a DVD burner with it. I recently tried to copy a DVD my dad let me borrow and when I went to make a exact copy of it the treaded "Copy write Protected" error message popped up. With me owning 500+/- DVD's and my father owning 1400+/- DVD's, I would really like to make duplicates of some of my father's DVD's. Can anyone tell me if there is a software out there that will allow me to make duplicates without this treaded message. Not looking to sell them, just want to make copies. And with that said, what type of blank DVD's do you guys recommend. Oh yeah, my PC came with the Sonic software, not sure what version but it sucks. Thanks in advance.

    grim,

go to http://www.doom9.org/ all your questions will be answered.

i use dvd dycrypter, then dvd2one...because you need to shrink it to a single layer disk (dual layer dvd's for dual layer burners run about 10 dollars apiece) then after dvd2one is finished i use copy2dvd, a lot of people use nero.

as for disks ritek, princo and verbatim get the high marks. go to http://www.supermediastore.com/index.html and the princos for dvd-r are about 31 cents a piece for 100. that includes shipping.

Hypothetically, I use DVDshrink and Alcohol 120. Often, if you strip out all the extras, foreign languages, warning msgs, you can get 100% PQ on a regular disc.

I am using DVD Decrypter and Clone DVD 2 with no problems.
