Default Death toll in Asia continues to climb

    http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmp..._tidal_waves_6

44,000 people have lost their lives so far, and that number will most likely continue to grow. To me, this is almost unimaginable. This is something you usually only see in the movies...

pretty crazy. I can't imagine a 20-30ft wave coming at me at 4-500MPH.

Actually, it was mentioned in the Hero thread.

I hope I am wrong but if within a couple of days 44k are dead that number could easily double.

Amazing how powerful this planet is. A picture in todays USA Today showed a mother weeping around about 20 dead childern, some were hers, so very sad. They are saying that 1/3 of all dead are children.

Our local newspaper indicated that the heaviest children casualty was in Sri Lanka. Many families took their kids out on Sunday to picnics along the beach to watch the high current and catch the fish that was washed ashore, and most of the childen were dead when the Tsunami hit. The newspaper also stated that there is a strong possibility that the majority of the current generation of children in that town in Sri Lanka were wiped out.

Just read on the net it's up to 114,000 and climbing.

This is horrible! So very sad for those people over there! Couldn't imagine having literally everything taken from you in a blink of an eye.

Unbelieveable. I never imagined the toll getting this high. I can't even imagine how high it's going to be in the end. And then there's the threat of disease...

Drudge Report has an article that puts the total closer to 400,000. Apparently some small island cities are completely gone.
