Tues. morning my wife got a call from her grandmother telling her that her 24 year old (male) cousin was in intensive care in critical condition and might not make it. He went with what he thought was the flu, but at midnight they were in emergency surgery (3 hours worth) to find that he had a hole in his colon and that his whole peritoneal cavity was full of what had been leaking from it and that it had been leaking for quite some time. He also has double pnumonia and now has a colostimy bag to boot.
Yesterday they where able to take him off the vent. and had him up and about some and thought that he was doing much better but that he was NOT out of the woods by any stretch of the imagination.
She got another call this morning that he had taken a turn for the worse and they need to put him back on the vent. but he is refusing to do so, they told his parents that if they could not convince him to do this that 12 hours would be a long time for him to live as his lungs were giving out. He is a really great guy and for him to go out like this would just not be right. Please say one for J.R. as I really think he deserves to live and plus I really think the world of him.
Thanks in advance,
