    Cool Parthenon motor in action

I wish I could afford this motor. You just bolt a 4X4 sheet of plywood to it and you're good to go. You can even mount it in an infinite baffle. Can you imagine a 4 foot panel moving in and out of the wall? And if you got the bucks, you can even double the excursion seen here:

Still dont understand this thing. Wouldnt there be a back wave also & it cancel out sounds? Also, you would have to anchor that thing down I bet, the motor was moving a ton even without the front baffle on.

Yup. It's a dipole driver. There is some cancellation but many people prefer the dipole sound. I think you need 8 times the displacement to equal a "box" sub. But, to put it in perspective, my Tempest 15" can displace about 2.5L of air and has output of over 120dB. The Parthenon can move up to 450L of air. That's 180 times the displacement, it is still flat to like 7 Hz. It will kill small animals or anything that gets close enough. :p

I'm pretty sure you need to hire an industrial engineer to install one of these things. :D
