    Default Advantage of balanced connections???

Okay, sorry for my ignorance on this subject. Please fill me in here.
I currently use a 2-channel amp to power my Lsi15's. Someday, I'll have enough money to buy a multi-channel home theatre amp for my main setup and I'll then move my 2-channel amp to my secondary stereo setup.
This 2-channel amp has the ability to accept balanced connections/cables. I have a really nice unbalanced analog interconnect being used right now (which I'd move with it to my secondary setup).
At the time which I move my 2-channel amp to my secondary setup, how much better is it to invest in a pre-pro which spits out balanced signals and introduce another component in the mix rather than using a direct line from my cd player to amp (I had planned on doing this because my CD player has volume control).

Thanks in advance for your opinions.

Balanced connections are better suited for long runs, that's about it. A well shielded interconnect is a well shielded interconnect.

If you already have them, and can use, then use them.

Okay, thanks. Since mine will be a short run (1 meter) and I already have an excellent unbalanced interconnect, I'll just stick with it rather than wasting any money.
    Thanks!
