Question Speaker hook up / Polk vs Receiver

When I bought the RM 7200, I followed Polks way to hook up via the sub. I have heard that with todays receivers, its better to hook up direct to your avr. Is that true. Would I avoid any speakers hooking directly into the polk sub? Please let me know if you can.

I have a RM7200 setup as well. I initially setup the system the Polk way with the fronts going to the sub. I have since gone to the Sub out of the AVR and letting the AVR do the filtering. I seem to get better overall bass and smoothness in the system doing it this way. From what I read on the forum post apparently Polk reccomended thier setup when alot of the AVR units did not have settings for crossover filtering. I have mine (AVR) set at a 150hz, with the fronts set as small and sub on. If you do it Polks way make sure you set the fronts to large and sub off.
