Default Ethereal Audio - Speaker Cable - Review/ Demo

Please refer to this thread before posting:

    CABLE DEMO PROGRAM - GUIDELINES

    Ethereal Audio - Speaker Cable - 2M

    The Cable-

Our in-the-trenches experience led Ethereal to completely rethink cable construction. Instead of spinning intricate theories about the most effective way to send audio/video signals and data streams down a wire, we've corrected the major design flaw that has prevented optimal performance Ė be it consistent 75-ohm impedance or near-total noise rejection.

No matter how high the quality of the cable materials and construction, the greatest amount of signal loss and distortion occurs at the cable termination point. Here, the solder gap creates an FM antenna effect that pulls in distortion, defeating the performance features of even the most expensive cables. Ethereal's exclusive compression method eliminates this gap by making a firm, seamless connection between cable and termination for optimal unimpeded signal transfer and accuracy. Manufactured to our strictly supervised specifications, Ethereal cables deliver the full performance potential of home theater equipment.

Iím using Ethereal Speaker cables for my home theater surround sound system and really like them. The cables are a perfect match for my ELAC front (L/R & C) speakers and LSi7 surround speakers.

Iím not good at writing wordy reviews, so Iíll just say that replacing Monster bi-wire with Ethereal Elite single run cables made my audio system more pleasant for movies and music.

    Hey Mark,

can you list on these demos how much each cable costs? for some of us... price determines whether it's a cable to buy. soundwise of course is the main factor for me... but price has to figure into the equation somewhere as well.

    thanks, al

The speaker cables for the front cost me $57 for a 4 meter pair and $32 for a single 4m CC cable.

The surround cable pair are 10 meter and cost $119.

    To DangerBoy and others:

I don't want to create a precedent that the more expensive, or inexpensive the cable the better....as I'm trying to keep this as fair as possible from my perspective. I don't sell these cables, profit or even add my own comments, thus I am detached from the program as best as I can be.

The information on the specific cables is either in the actual Review/ Demo thread, or available via the Internet.

The manufacturers in this program vary in price depending on where you shop, and some of them are fixed index.

The actual price shouldn't matter, as ALL these cables are modestly priced IMO, nothing is crazy here.

EVERYONE - Please demo these products, whether you like them or hate them, I don't even care....but the forum does, so post your thoughts and comments.

It's a damn near FREE experience, and you have no legs to stand on, if you don't try what you dont think works.

You would be suprised to know how far a positive or negative comment drives a consumers' purchase.

Brent - My wife is the Ninja of anti-audio. I know for a fact she wishes this "crap" would just disappear, but I wear one SHOE in this family....compared to HER pants, and that's just enough to keep things civil, and me in the game.

My Wife has taken over my Living Room Projection system.
It is amazing how loud SHE will play it.
Has not gotten excited about HD yet.
    New HD PVR should help.
And she does ignore my ever growing hifi heap in the garage.

Well...it looks like I'm first in line for these. Since I got them brand new I let them burn in for a few days just to say I did it. Didn't listen to set a benchmark before or after "burn-in" so I can't say wheter or not they sound better, worse, or the same...just that I simply wanted there to be no issue as to this fact.

I got these soon after a head to head demo with some PS Audio Preludes and Signal Cable Ultra Double Runs. I won't go into detail but will simply state that the Ethereal's would not replace either of these cables in my 2 channel rig....so it is safe to say that these cables are not "giant killers".

It is also safe to say that I liked these speaker cables well enough that I have ordered a pair for my fronts and a single for my center channel in my HT Rig. They are replacing an above average 12 ga. bulk wire from RS (I believe). I noticed a definite improvement with the Ethereals in place. Nothing dramatic...just good solid performance with a very pleasing SQ. The detail was there without harshness. There was a certain amount of depth and lush quality without any loss of clarity. Overall a very nice speaker cable. Again this is in my HT Rig with a Denon AVR, Denon DVD player, RT55i fronts, CS400i center and RT15i surrounds. Some music was demoed but it was mainly movies.

I did some research on the Co. and their website states these are cables designed for the HT enthusiast with design input from the professional installer (paraphrased). Makes sense. These cables are very easy to work with. They come standard with a very nice gold banana termination that are well marked red and black and very easy to use. I especially like the fabric cover over the wire itself and the cable is very flexible. Makes for an easy install and cable management. Good SQ, well designed, easy to use and a very reasonable price make these cables an easy purchase and worthy of a recommendation IMO.

I would like to thank Brent McCall for donating these to the fourm for the Cable Swap (I know it is marketing - but it was still a nice gesture). At least he will have the knowledge that he made ONE sale because of his efforts. Thanks again to Doro for his efforts to keep this little project going.

    Shack:
Thank very much, both for the reveiw and the purchase of the speaker cables.
It is nice to know when you have done something right.
FTW: The only line that I take exception to is
    "I know it is marketing".
It really isn't. In fact my marketing firm would go nuts if they knew that I was doing this (marketing types do not like anything that they do not have complete control over). It is a good way to find out how my product holds up to other brands. 2 channel guys usually are more tuned (read: picky) to their systems than HT guys. And, are more vocal about their opinions. You are always taking a chance when you get involved with something like this (it is an easy way to get egg on your face).
Many years ago I was the "PITA" 2 channel consumer, and I know how it is to care about the music. I welcome any (especially critical) insight on my cables. It does help me to make them better.
I would also like to know (in a PM if possible) what you think the retail value of my product is.

Thank You again. I hope you enjoy you new speaker cables.
