A shot in the rack with my new source for the SDA CRS+ rig, the Cal Audio CL-15 HDCD player and the B&K EX4420 225 wpc amp.
A truly giant killer sounding system in my opinion. About $2,750 used on all gear. Only thing bought new was wire.

Well I swapped out tubes at the same time and then put all the screws back on the lid. It certainly didn't degrade the sound any that I can tell.
I also use the tube damping HAL-Os on the Jolida cdp. The rings in combination with the "blue ball" isolation rack I made has yielded some nice gains as a cumulative effect on pinpoint placement / focus and separation in the sound. I feel that these small tweaks alone may be hard to recognize but when you start adding a few together and then you take them all away then one may notice a difference. Here too though, no harm done by the tweaks and it leaves one with some peace of mind that you've done everything you can at a small and very reasonable cost. Systems certainly sound good that's for sure.
I was going to go with the Pearl Tube Coolers, but after reading posts by others who had owned both, the general consensus was that the Herbie product was superior.

You gotta' love a Makers Mark colored toroid.
Doro,
I love everything about that amp, Great Design, Great Build, Nice front LED's, Sound neutral from nothing to everything 0% to 100% never changes sound, never colors music.
Thanks again Doro for talking me into that brand, I'm sold. Can't afford everything about that company, but what I own is sweet.

I was definitely impressed the Myryad. Looks to be VERY well built. Weighs in at 43lbs and the Denon weighs 37lbs. Not to shabby!

- Front Faceplate, kind of hard to take a picture of the faceplate, it is silver and it 'shines'...only way to do it is take a dark pic...sucks...but ya know! Awesome looking amp!

Here is the rear of the unit, has XLR and RCA hook ups, and nice big speaker terminals which annoy me to death... not so bad now that I have nanners

Here is where everything seems to run to, must be the mastermind... also kind of explains why the left side of the amp is so hot while the right side is cold as an icecube...NICE big heat sinks...I like it!

Here is the layout of the amp, two big blue bad arse caps and a nice big toridial transformer! AWESOME! I also like how this amp looks easy to repair, infact...it would be extremely easy to replace some of thise internal wiring...*ponders*
Yall shoulda known I couldnt go without including a big picture of the BIG BLUE BAD ARSE caps didnt ya?? Well here it is! BIG AND BLUE...
Thats my B&K, have fun :p![]()

I am not going to post any of the big, bad ass pieces.
Instead, I am going to pay respects to my very first piece of mid-fi equipment. This particular pre amplifier was critical in taking me towards the direction of better sound. No, it wasnt exotic - but it sounded great at the time! Still does...

Regarding the AMC, cost aside, were you disapointed when you first opened it up? I mean, it looks like very little to expect good performance or value. Not to imply that bigger is better and that more IS better.
These AMC's are known as entry level seperates and have a bit of a following for being better/higher quality than pioneer and denon when it comes to certain products, players, amps etc. etc.
From that picture I see little to indicate and anything more than a cool case and a zenith inside. Not trying to offend or anything just my simple opinion.
Kevin
Kevin,
I was thrilled with the piece.
This is back before I even knew what "SDA" was, let alone that it existed. At that time the most experience I had was with various receivers from the likes of Onkyo, JVC, Technics, and Pioneer. As you can tell, the standards were not set all too high.
To put it bluntly; the Amc 1100, combined with the Carver M200t and AMC 2100 amp showed me what better sound was like. It took my Polk 2000's to a level I never thought possible.
AMC produces wonderful equipment for the coin..and is an excellent choice for those who dont have large amounts of green to shell out - but want to take a significant leap above contemporary equipment. I will stand by AMC's seperates all the way. The amps are powerful and clean - the cd players are silent, detailed, and reliable, as is the pre amp.
No, their gear may not satisfy those who lust for the very best, or want some fancy exotic name to spit off the tongue. But thats not what AMC is there for. Its great equipment at a great price.
Looks like a clean, simple layout--which is exactly what you want in a preamp. I bet that sucker sounds pretty smooth.

ZERO,
I agree..
I have a carver m200t and a parasound P/HP, and they are what also showed me what I was missing with just a Yamaha AVR on my RT2000i`s...
they were the inexspensive beginnings of what has become my
love/obsession with mid/upper audio...
It`s been downhill ever since...!!!:D
Steve, Yep, she does sound quite smooth. No frills.. just good sound.
Beardog, I cant speak for you, but there are times when I wish I could have stayed content with that gear... !
