all righty... howzabouta TJ/Sophia mesh plate "2A3" (really more of a 300B with a 2.5V filament, as I understand it). Sounds good, kind of disco-looking (huge globe envelope) but it does light up nicely compared to a 'real' 2A3. It looks like they're made from recycled toaster ovens...

I strongly disagree! You just got caught up in a.... hot tube pic moment....

That poor ol' girl was rescued from the scrap metal pile at my favorite emporium. Passed it along to a collector who had one that was cosmetically very good but had other issues. He needed an organ donor.

There've been numerous such speakers (many of European origin) over the years. When I saw this particular one (in a Motorola "transistor radio") I thought that the magnet was just... gone. Silly me.

Now I have to find some more guts to post...

Isn't that a Westinghouse? Made in New Jersey? Can't quite make out the city.

Oh, jeepers... now you are testing my memory (and/or my visual acuity). Yes, Westinghouse. Or, as my father the TV repairman called them, "Westinglouse".

Looks like it was made in the Westinghouse, Television and Radio division, located in Metuchen, NJ., it is the "charcoal" model and they also made the same unit in a yellow/white version. I like the "Cordless" designation on the front plate, I wonder how many ball games were played on that? Or "Wolfman Jack" programs?

How about an old Yamaha YP-D10. Arm had adjustable VTA. Sold this to a good friend and miss it. Haven't come across another yet. If the electronics were external, I'd rate it up there with a Technics SP-10MK II. As is, it still bested many newer and older DD tables.

Two comments occasioned by recent posts.

    1) I hate working on cassette decks!

    2) The Yamaha YP-D10 is a fine looking piece of hardware; lots of gee-gaws and jimcrack under the deck! I do not remember that model at all :-(

Not sure if I posted this before; did a search and nothing popped. One of Ed's (ESavinon) SRT controllers. Shot years ago when he stopped here on the way back from one of his famous cross country acquisition road trips.

I am so impressed with my recent Onkyo A-5VL integrated amp purchase that I bought a second one to use in my bedroom. I even felt compelled enough to write a review on Amazon (which I never do). Today I took the lid off to take some photos of it.
