    Default Phil Collins DVD

Ok I realize that this is not everyone's style of music but I just have to say that the "Phil Collins Finally...The First Farewell Tour" dvd has got to be hands down one of the best sounding live concert mixes I have ever heard.

I have scanned through it a few times to try to find one particular track that really stands out, but just can't seem to narrow it down. The dvd offers both Dolby Digital and DTS 5.1 tracks as well as a Dolby Digital 2.0 track. Also the concert is spread across two discs so the video quality is actually pretty good as well.

So for anyone who may be a Phil Collins fan or would just like a great sounding concert to test or demo a system with, I would strongly recommend this dvd.

The lowest price I could find was Amazon at 22.49 by now you might be able to pick up a used copy on e-bay or half.com cheaper.

    Happy Listening all!!!

No the discs consist of mostly his hits. Below I have added a link to the details on Amazon.com. There are also some good reviews there to read.

The Genesis "The Way We Walk - Live" concert DVD has "Home By The Sea I & II" and the "Drum Duet" with Chester Thompson.

ok, this is indeed a great concert. The drum intro is simply marvelous!

Sound quality is great, low could be a tad tighter, but overall balance is very good, instruments and vocal clarity are clean, given the size of the stadium.

Picture quality is sharp, and toned nicely. Occasionally, red color bleeds a bit. The stage lights are heavily dominated by red derivatives.

Song selections: what can I say, it takes me down memory lanes to the best decade (for those old enough to experience it) in my living life.

    A strong buy recommendation, IMO.

    polkatese,

    Glad you liked it.

Out of curiosity have you found any better sounding concert dvds?

The only other one I have that I feel sounds that good maybe even better is Eric Claptons recent "Sessions For Robert J" however that is actually a dvd of there studio recording sessions. This is also a disc I would heavily recommend by the way.

    Enjoy.

The one that really kick ass for me is Don Grusin "The Hang", it is a jazz live session, I don't know if you are into Jazz at all.

Sting "Brand New Day" live in Universal Amphiteather, CA is also very good (sound), Pics are a bit too dark.

Elton John, the concerts (4 DVDs) have a couple that are good.

    Well, Happy Easter, guys!

I played this DVD, and found a real nice surprise wild card video from 1999 Montreux Jazz Festival, featuring Phil Collins Big Band, with several Jazz veterans - George Duke, Gerald Albright, Sadao Watanabe, etc. What an amazing rendition of "Pick up the Pieces" (AWB). How could I missed this for more than a year? un-effin-believable..

I own the Phil Collins "Finally, the first farewell tour" DVD. It's great! Anything with DTS seems to sound good to me, and the drum intro at the beginning of the DVD and again in the middle of "In the Air Tonight" are rather breath-taking.

Sometimes I'll come home to my apartment for lunch when my neighbors are at work so I can crank it. That and my new Led Zeppelin DVD (also DTS) are both great watchings/listenings. The Led sound quality isn't quite as good, probably since the recordings are much older, but all the great songs are on there.

If you get the Led Zeppelin, may as well turn off your TV/monitor after you select the song you want. The video is that bad, but the music is all that matters.

Ok I tried it out. Besides the Blue Man Group, this is the only concert DVD I have purchased.

    Thanks for the recommendation.
