How would this custom compare to a SVS offering...

People always rave about custom subs, and I saw that on audiogon a 12" with 350W custom sub is available in my area. How would this compare to the SVS PB10 or other subs in this price range?

Custom DIY subs are great "more for your money" buys. This sub should be close to a PB10. Sealed 12" compared to a ported 10". Sealed designs yield tighter bass than ported models, but use more power for the same output. This sub looks to be a nice driver/amp match for a solid HT sub.

I run a Dual Adire Shiva sub setup with a 320 watt plate amp tuned to 17hz and just love the deep bass for movie impact.

I don't reall need it for music with my SDA 1s, but it can musical also if needed to take the load off.

The sealed sub is generally considered to have tighter bass response than a ported model so my guess is that this sub would do music well.

If you are close enough to listen before you buy, take some discs you know well.

I would like to hear it though. Perhaps bring your sub to his place and listen to it if you can.

Go ahead and snag that thing...I too have finals next week so I wouldnt really be able to do anything about this sub very quickly either...actually I'm thinking I might go for an M&K sub instead. Those things are rather intriguing with their low freq ability at such little rated power!

SVS PCi subs move 16 MM each way...

Dayton 12" Titantic moves 18.7 MM each way...

SVS PCi uses 350 or so watts... (can)

Dayton 12" uses 500 or so watts (can)

SVS dosnt stand a chance if that is built/designed right

And M&K is a POS company - period. Atleast their subs are... Their 1,000 dollar subwoofer uses 83 dollar drivers and sh*tty amps...
