How would you set up a dynamic balance system in a car? It'd be kinda tricky, no?

Those are old Mobile Monitor subs arent they?

It would be cool to setup a system using all vintage Polk speakers. Jstas basically has this. He's using all the old DB line.

I still prefer the current lineup of Momo's. Everybody should have a Tweeter nearby so they go listen to them head to head with MB Quart, Alpine and JL. Very impressive and even more so at half the cost! :D

Dynamic Balance refers to the design/construction of the speaker itself. Materials were selected and layered together to exploit the sonic properties of each mateial the best that the design would allow. The sonic properties of each material was what drove the selection. The including of various different materials was so the the sonic properties of one material cancelled out the sonic properties of another material in the speaker. What resulted was a stellar design that was not only fairly efficient for a sub but highly accurate and pretty much distortion/resonance free. It was born out of the same technology Polk Audio used to construct the RT series of speakers.

When teh original dB series speakers were out the, full range competed on the highest level of sonic quality for half of what other companies were charging and many people if not everyone considered the Polk dB10 and dB12 to be the best subs that could be had at the time. Yes, they were even shaming the venerable JL Audio.

If the new Reference Series coming out can come even close to matching if not exceeding the standard of teh original dB series then that will be one hell of a nice line of speakers.

Most people will down-play the dB series, especially Polk Audio, as being a non-high-end speaker but sometimes something comes along that just clicks so well that it far exceeds even the designer's expectations and an instant classic is born!

The MM (Mobile Monitor) series is a sweet set of speakers and probably worth owning for posterity's sake. They weren't of incredibly quality sound. They would probably match well with the EX series of speakers or the new db series in terms of sound quality and and performance. What they did do was break some ground that previously was unheard of. Component level speakers for a price that the average guy could afford. They also had one of the first 3-way component set if I remember correctly. They basically made high end audio available to those who didn't have support contracts with major manufacturers to compete in IASCA level stuff. There were some shiners of the MM series of speakers. Namely the C-4 subwoofer which is an incredible performer for an iso-baric bandpass box. I already mentioned the 3 way component set and there were a few other things that made them special. Overall though, they brough quality sound that couldn't be found for anything less than twice the price.
