Default Polk control of dealer prices

    Hi All,

I'm relatively new to Polk Audio home speakers and this site. Starting to become a fan of Polk home speakers so I'm already planning of upgrades from my R series to the RTi series.

Got a question about retail pricing of Polk Audio speakers. Does Polk Audio have tight control over dealer pricing? Seems everywhere I look, the price of the RTi series are the same. It's even down to exact dollar amount.

    Thanks,

    Ivan

    You answered your own question.

Well...I guess I should ask to how much of a degree. I got my R series system at a pretty good price at Fry's. Seems those speakers are on sale all the time. Whereas I have never see a sale on the RTi series. So I'm wonder do I wait for a sale on the RTi line which may never happen?

With regards to other merchandise such as fishing equipment, I know some brands can never be discounted or the store loses privildge to sell the brand.

Their problem is not really 'control of pricing'...

Their problem is making up their mind...

    Example -

RTixxx line discontinued, new line comes in, new line is moved to tweeter (so two lines being blown out at CC) - the LSi series getting a make over...so they are blowing out all the old LSis to make way for the 'new' LSis...

Then blowing out the R series for the Monitor series...

About the only time you see Polk discounted is when they are being discontinued, or if its an unauthorized dealer.

Sometimes you will find a special deal like the one that is at Crutchfield right now. Their current deal is a free pair of Atrium 45 or a $150 gift card for future purchase. I've heard the giftcards can be used repeatedly; in otherwords, purchase something over $500, get the card. Apply the card to another purchase over $500 ($350 after giftcard) and get another gift card to be applied again, etc. This can be a good deal if you are buying an expensive set like the LSi series. Buy the front pair, then buy the surrounds, then buy a Sub, then finally get the center using the last card. You can save $450 on a setup like that.

Outstanding idea Bill. Crutchfield with the $150 GC is exactly the place I've been crunching the math. Need to find a good deal so it passes the WAF test. Would like to get a pair of RTi8, RTi4, and Csi3. Comes out to be a little over $1k so should be able to get me two of the $150 GC.

    Thanks for all the suggestions.

AS long as they let you purchase an individual RTi8 on each ticket lol
