Question Crossover points for db 6.5" and db 10"

    Hi everyone,

I have Polk db 6510 (6.5") mid/woofers installed in my doors and a db 10" subwoofer in a sealed enclosure in my trunk. The high- and low-pass crossovers on my amp (Denon 760BL) are adjustable from 25 to 120 Hz. Given my speaker sizes, what's a good starting point for the crossover settings?

    Thanks,
    Jason

    Jason,
I would suggest setting the crossover between 80 to 90
Hertz. This crossover frequency works very well with these speakers. Depending on the rate of the slope ( 12 dB or 18 dB ),
and the speaker locations... you may have to invert the phase on the subs to achieve a smooth transition from the woofer to the mid bass driver to get the best bass performance.

    Happy Bassing!!

    Kim,

Thanks for the tips. I'll try the 80-90 Hz crossover points.

I've heard that it's good to have a little "overlap" between the high-pass and the low-pass crossovers. For example, the high pass could be set at 80 Hz and the low pass would be set at 100 Hz. Would you recommend something like this?

    Thanks again,
    Jason

    Default Frequency overlap?????

    Jason,
If you set the high pass to 80 Hertz and the low pass to 110 Hertz, I don't think that you will like the out come. The upper bass frequencies will sound too "boomy" and lack definition. I have found that low pass crossover points above 90 Hertz tend to take on this "quality" of sound.

    Happy Bassing!!

How low can I go with the high-pass crossover on the 6.5" drivers? I want to get some bass out of them, but I don't want to over work them.

    Thanks,
    Jason
